Edwin L. "Bud" Reitz, founder of E.L. Reitz Wholesale Lumber Co., Rancho Santa Fe (San Diego), Ca., died June 12, 1993. He was 88.

He founded his company in the 1930s in Los Angeles, moving to Long Beach in about 1950. In the earlv 1960s he moved the company t6 Rancho Santa Fe, retiring in the late 1980s.

Mr. Reitz served as an Army captain and government lumber procurement officer during World War II.

Rober{ E. Ilarrah, 77, chairman of the board of Harrah Industries, Wilits, Ca., died after a lengthy illness June 9, 1993, in Wilits.

Born in Riverside, Wa., he moved to Branscomb, Ca., in 1942 and joined his three brothers in the sawmill business. A year later he and brother Joe moved to Willits and started milling equipment manufacturer Harrah Bros. Machine Works.

Also in Willits, he founded Remco Hydraulics, where he invented nonmetallic cylinders; Microphor, Inc., for which he invented two-quart low flush toilets, and co-founded Firco, a sawmill now owned by Louisiana-Pacific.

Despite officially retiring in 1987, he continued as chairman of Harrah Industries, which he founded in 1968, and also established R and J Lumber Co., Willits.

Stanley Cherno, 61, owner and president of Southwest Mill & Lumber, North Hollywood, Ca., died May

1,1993, in Shanghai, China.

A native of New York, he joined his father's company, Acme Sash & Door, Van Nuys, Ca., in 1955, which was later moved to North Hollywood. He took over the business in 1971 and changed its name to Southwest Sales and then in 1978 to Southwest Mill & Lumber.
