The problem? Very simply the inabilityor reluctance-to sit down and come up with a long range, professionally-assisted program aimed at building the image of the company as well as moving merchandise.

LMA's First Annual Merchandising Fair, chaired by Lyle Schafer, was next on the program and by using an air horn and an old technique borrowed from Major Bowes the convention was treated to a fast mov. ing series of 3 minute talks on "What's New-Here's V/hat We Can Do For You" by 20 top notch representatives from leading product manufacturers and manufacturing associations. Following their presentations the participants manned their booths and it's safe to say that the dealer action they experienced during the rest of the day firmly established the Merchandising Fair a permanent place in future LMA programs.
