New exterior: interior redwood paneling

.TtHE beauty of real redwood lumber combined with laborr saving plywood is a new building idea .announced by Georgia-Pacific. Called "Plank.Side," it's engineered for both exterior and interior use.

The siding-paneling is being made initially with either a plain or an unusual "board-on-board" saw-textured, redwood lumber face on veneer cores and backs, and in standard 4x8, 9 and l0'sizes.

The laminating of alternating thickness of 4" wide saw-textured and finger-jointed redwood lumber on the panel face produces the interesting board-on-board effect. Manufactured in accordance with PS l-66 specifications, "Plank-Side" can be applied to studs 16" on center as with regular 3-ply 3/ttt plywood panels.

The unusual process combines lumber and veneers on a production line basis, keeping cost of the panels in the same gengral range as conventional redwood lumber specialty siding and paneling.

Panels have an exterior glueline and shipJapped edges. A redwood pigmented, water-repellent prime coat for either stain or paint on-site finishing is factory-applied, ma.king the new material useful for a wide range of interior and exterior uses, such as paneling, siding and fencling.
