Cornpl, ete Mil,ling F aoil'ities their home in the extremely rugged west' ern section of Grand Canyon National Park. Their small reservation, population 275, is one of the most isolated Indian settlements in the continental United States. It lies at the bottom of 3,000' deep Havasu Canyon. Supai, as the village is known, is only accessible by two pack trails, one eight miles, the other 14 miles long. Thus necessitating air transportation of the building materials.
Bond-Deck was selected by the Bureau of Indian Affairs as suitable material for use on the Center for several reasons. It is light weight (manufactured from white fir), and available in 24 lengthsinsuring that the maximum number of panels and footage could be carried in each helicopter load. The panelized T&G decking is easy to install-the center was constructed by the Havasupais themselves.
