NAWIA has a new name

frALL ittheNorth American Whole' v sale Lumber Association.

By unanimous action at their 80th annual convention held in late April in Boca Raton, Fla., NAWLA sub' stituted the word "North" for "National" in their name and thus gave long overdue recognition to its contingent of Canadian members. Virtually from its beginnings in 1893, the group has had north-of-the'border members. Gilles Bros. & Co. Ltd.' Braeside, Ontario, is the oldesq hav' ing first paid their dues in 1896.

Following up their recent position paper on functional discounts (ste The Merclwm, April, p. 15) virtuallv the entire NAWLA membership pub' licly came down on the side of functional discounts in mill quotations.

The group also voted to begin negotiations towards the possible affiliation of NAWLA with the National Forest Products Assn. If agreed to,
