Pressure Treater Aims For #1 Ranking
With the addition of its fifth and largest plant now under construction near Tuscumbia, Al., Great Southern Wood Preserving expects to eventually overtake Universal Forest Products as the nation's largest pressure treater.
"With this new plant, we anticipate becoming the largest pressure treater in America. Despite us having fewer plants, we'll be able to produce more through state-of-the-art technology and efficient production methods," said Jimmy Rane, pres. and c.e.o. of Abbeville, Al.-based Great Southern.
Great Southern, with four plants, has lone held the number two slot be- hind Universal, with 16 plants treating 564 million bd. ft. of lumber in 1995, on Building Products Digest's annual ranking of the Top 25 Treaters.

Appearing in summer and4all issues of various trade magazlnes, each ad targets a specific audience: builders/ remodelers, architects/engineers and furniture retailers/manufacturers. Campaign sponsors are: American Forest & Paper Association, APAThe Engineered Wood Association, Canadian Wood Council, National Particleboard Association, Southern Forest Products Association, West Coast Lumber Inspection Bureau and Western Wood Products Association.
