HAMMETSCHWAND LIFT TEMPORARILY CLOSED As of 23 July 2019, the Hammetschwand Lift has been temporarily closed due to security concerns. During daily routine inspections it was decided that the anchors require further examination to ensure the safety of the lift.

As of 23 July 2019, the Hammetschwand Lift has been temporarily closed due to security concerns. During daily routine inspections it was decided that the anchors require further examination to ensure the safety of the lift. Upon analysis of the carrying capacity of the anchors, experts will recommend adequate maintenance work. The reopening of the Hammetschwand Lift will be announced following this.

As a precautionary measure, the entire Cliff Walk “Felsenweg” has also been temporarily closed as of 23 July 2019.

The Hammetschwand as a popular place of excursions and viewpoint remains open. The Hammetschwand restaurant also remains open. The restaurant and the Hammetschwand can be reached via different hiking trails.

Hammetschwand Lift AG The Hammetschwand Lift dating from 1905 is the highest outdoor lift in Europe at 1,132 meters. 60 percent of the Hammetschwand Lift AG is owned by the Bürgenstock Hotels AG and 40 percent is owned by the Schindler Schweiz AG.
