Semblances arts teachers such as Gene Le Bell, Al Thomas, Hayward Nishioka, Joe Lewis, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jim Harrison, Mike Stone, Pat Buselson, Howard Jackson, " For Wall, combat distance is key: "With the distance you can control your opponent, their force and their capacity to hit you. All the martial arts are good, what is needed is experience and good instruction." Furthermore, Bob Wall is right up to date with the system of Ju Jitsu that has been so in fashion in the United States for years. Like Chuck Norris and other outstanding martial artists, he got right down to work: "Yes. I have trained in Jiu Jitsu with Jean Jacques Machado and his siblings for more than ten years." Other famous martial artists have also done it. For example, I have had the opportunity to see Richard Norton and Kathy Long demonstrate conscientiously and very well by the way - their abilities in these fights. At the present time Bob Wall is directing his real estate company and he is devoted to his family, of which he is very proud: "I have been married for more than 32 years with my wonderful wife Lillian whom I adore, she is a great woman. God blessed me with her. We have two charming daughters, Shana, 27 years old and Kara, 24. They are the light of my life." By the way, I must point out - and I said this to Bob - that his daughters are beautiful, a fact that he reaffirmed with a conspiratorial look when I asked him about their karate skills, "my wife and my daughters have trained in karate, but they don't love it the way that I do. I love martial arts and I give thanks to God for the exceptional life that they have given me. I have been practicing for 42 years and I will continue to do so until God decides to put an end to my life." On the other hand, like the great past competitor he is, Wall believes that maybe things have changed now: "When I was competing from 1964 to 1973, there was a lot of respect among competitors. Today karate competitors are much better than in my time, however, it seems that some are excellent but many don't follow the changes to the competition rules, for example in what refers to increasing points for kicks and reducing contact." Although it is easy to understand his answer, you cannot disregard his opinion about the nonexistence of Olympic Karate: "Chuck Norris loves martial arts as much as I do, especially traditional Karate. We both think that the amateur sport of Karate is an excellent training for people. I think that it is unfortunate that we don't have Karate in the Olympiads." Bob summarizes for us his point of view on the characteristics that a good karate practitioner or martial artist should have: "Somebody who manages to improve himself with them and who is humble and kind. Attitude is everything. It is all we to be able to control something. We can be negative or positive, poor or rich, be in good shape or bad shape, happy or depressed... we have to control our attitude." In the summer of 2001, the Spanish Karate Organization named Bob Wall "outstanding Karate practitioner of the XXI century", presenting him with a commemorative plaque that the American actor and Karate pioneer sincerely appreciated. To conclude, Bob stated, "I would like to extend my very best wishes to Budo International magazine." Thank you. A pleasure.
