Radio: KKBJ 1360 a.m. Voice of the Beavers Brian Schultz joins KKBJ for his first year behind the mic as Bemidji State continues its broadcast agreement with R.P. Broadcasting of Bemidji. Brian Bisonette provides expert analysis and color commentary for BSU home games. KKBJ’s coverage of BSU football begins 30 minutes prior to opening kickoff with a comprehensive pre-game show, featuring interviews with BSU players, coaches and others involved with the school’s athletics programs, as well as analysis and insights on the coming game. Additionally, all game broadcasts will be streamed live over the Internet via KKBJ’s web site (http://www.kkbj.com/sports.html). Broadcasts are available to Windows, Macintosh and UNIX computer users and are distributed in RealAudio format (requires RealOne player, available as a free download at http://www.real.com).

President, Bemidji State University Arizona ‘70 Dr. Jon E. Quistgaard became the ninth president of Bemidji State University in August, 2001. The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees named him to the position in late May, 2001 following a national search. A member of the BSU community for 22 years, he had served since 1997 as the vice president for academic and student affairs. As the chief academic officer of the institution, he was responsible for academic programming in three colleges, integrative studies, distance learning, academic services, international student services, counseling, career services, the

Director of Athletics North Dakota State ‘89 A new era in Bemidji State University athletics began July 13, 2001 when Dr. Rick Goeb was named BSU‘s first full-time director of intercollegiate athletics. Goeb directs a 17-sport varsity athletics program at BSU with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s ice hockey and 15 Division II sports. Beaver athletics has undergone dramatic changes in Goeb’s three years at the helm, having seen more than a dozen positions created or filled with new hires - including head coaches for women’s hockey, men’s and women’s basketball, soccer, softball, baseball, women’s golf and volleyball - and the hiring of the institution’s first full-time athletics fundraiser. The 2003-04 season may have been BSU’s best ever. Men’s hockey won College Hockey America and reached the title game of the CHA Tournament for the second consecutive season, men’s basketball won the NSIC regular-season title reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in its history and women’s basketball hosted and won its first-ever NSIC playoff game. In 2002-03, women’s ice hockey turned in its finest season at the Division I level, men’s and women’s golf each had NCAA regional participants, and outdoor track had two individuals at the NCAA Championships. Andy Bartlett Sports Information Director Kansas State ‘95 Television: Charter Communications and KBSU TV 17 In 2003, Bemidji State athletics entered a new era of media coverage, partnering with Charter Communications to provide live coverage for up to 50 BSU sporting events each year exclusively to Bemidji-area customers on Charter cable systems. KBSU, Bemidji State’s campus television station, will continue its long-standing tradition of producing BSU athletics events. In addition to the full home schedule of BSU men’s hockey, KBSU will also produce BSU’s full schedule of home football games, most home women’s hockey games and a selection of men’s and women’s basketball games. Also a first in 2005, Charter and KBSU will televise four volleyball contest. In total, KBSU and Charter have a 48-game schedule on tap for 2005-06, giving Bemidji State unparalleled media coverage for its intercollegiate programs. Local radio personality Scott Williams, recognized as one of the region’s pre-eminant on-air talents, handles play-by-play duties for all KBSU-produced television broadcasts.

Andy Bartlett is in his fifth year as Sports Information Director at Bemidji State. He directs all publicity and media relations operations for BSU’s 17-sport athletics department, and directly handles the university’s football, men’s hockey and baseball programs. Bartlett, 32, joined the BSU staff in May, 2001 after spending the previous eight years in the sports information office at Big 12 Conference power Kansas State. After one year as a student volunteer intern and two years as a graduate assistant, Bartlett was named Assistant SID at KState in May, 1997. He directly oversaw K-State’s baseball and volleyball programs and was involved with a variety of programs until moving to a newly-created position of Internet Coordinator in 1999. He served two years in that position, overseeing one of the largest on-campus athletics

American Indian Resource Center, and student development programs. Quistgaard began his association with BSU in 1979 as an admissions representative. He became the director of admissions and advising in 1980; was named the dean of undergraduate admissions and graduate studies in 1988; served as acting vice president for academic and student affairs from 1993-94; and was the associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of academic services from 1994-1997. Quistgaard is an active presenter on the national level in the areas of continuous quality improvement, challenges in higher education, planning, assessment models, and transforming higher education. He received a doctorate in political science from the University of Arizona, where he also earned his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in government. athletes earned Academic All-Conference honors including two Academic All-America selections. BSU’s 2001-02 competition season, Goeb’s first at the helm, was one of its most successful ever. Men’s basketball hosted its firstever NSIC playoff game; Jeanne Larson was selected to compete in the NCAA women’s golf championship; Aaron Feia earned NSIC Athlete of the Year for the indoor track season and helped lead the BSU track teams to six individual NSIC crowns and baseball had its best season since 1997 and hosted the NSIC Tournament. Goeb came to Bemidji State after six years as senior associate athletics director at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. At Fairbanks, Goeb served as NCAA compliance officer, monitored academic eligibility and acted as the liaison for booster clubs. Prior to his position at Fairbanks, Goeb spent two years as an administrator at North Dakota. Goeb also served as the head wrestling coach at St. Cloud State from 1990-93 when he was an instructor in physical education and a facility coordinator; was the strength and conditioning coach at Northern Colorado from 1989’90; and served as an assistant wresting coach at North Dakota State from 1988-’89. Originally from Anoka, Minn., Goeb received his undergraduate degree at North Dakota State, where he was also a national wrestling champion. Goeb earned his master’s from Northern Colorado and doctorate from North Dakota. He and his wife Carol have two daughters, Amber and Anne and one son, Jordan.

He is an active member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Bartlett He is in his fifth year serving on the organization’s Computer Committee and has been twice published in CoSIDA Digest, a monthly publication serving the organization’s membership of more than 2,000 professionals. In addition, he has won three CoSIDA awards for excellence in publications including a Fifth in the Nation finish for his 2002 BSU Football Media Guide. It is thought to be the first national publications award won at BSU.

Bartlett earned his bachelor of science degree in mass communication from Kansas State in 1995. Bartlett is married to the former Melissa Vene, a 1999 graduate of Bemidji State. He has two daughters, Megan (7) and Hellen (1).
