Bryan Lippincott, the NSIC Player of the Year, currently leads all Division II hitters with a .494 average, while ranking second in the country with a .594 on base percentage and third nationally with an .864 slugging percentage. His triple-slash line led the Central Region across the board while he also led the region with 19 doubles and 133 total bases while his 10 home runs ranked fifth. He also ranked second in the region with 76 hits and a 1.13 RBI per game rate while his 1.07 runs per game were fifth. Opponents took notice as he was walked intentionally 15 times and hit by pitch 13 more times as pitchers tried to avoid making mistakes on the inner half to the strong left handed hitter. He also drew 28 walks to just 15 strikeouts. In his career, Lippincott had a 6-game home run streak as a sophomore, a 28-game hitting streak as a junior, and as a senior hit his first career grand slam (a game winner against Winona State) and first career cycle. He is Concordia’s career record holder with a .428 average over 161 games (594 at bats), also holding career records in runs (170), doubles (63) and triples (12). He’s the reigning Capital One College Division Baseball Academic AllAmerican of the Year and maintains a 4.0 cumulative grade point average.

Colorado Mesa Mavericks LHP | 6-4 | 200 | Sr. Alpine, Utah Lone Peak HS

Jared Christensen, the RMAC Pitcher of the Year, led the region and is tied for the Division II lead with 12 wins and a record of 12-2. Christensen works with outstanding control, walking just 1.5 per 9-innings which ranks fifth in the region. The tall, imposing left hander works with a 2-seam fastball in the 84-87 mph range and prides himself on location as he aggressively works the edges of the plate with his control. His fastball sets up his devasting change-up which is his out-pitch while showing a slider. He finished second in the RMAC with a 3.61 earned run average while limiting opposing hitters to a .267 average, pitching in elevation throughout league play. Among his four complete games this season was a complete game shutout victory over RMAC Tournament Champion Regis University (March 24), a 4-0 victory as he allowed just five hits, struck out four with no walks allowed. He struck out a career-high 10 batters in a 24-2 win over Nebraska-Kearney (April 6). Prior to becoming a Maverick, Christensen was an NCAA DII All-American at Miles Community College.

A total of five players on the 2012 Daktronics All-Central Region Teams have been Daktronics All-Region in prior seasons with ConcordiaSt. Paul’s Bryan Lippincott the only three-time Daktronics All-Region selection and Wayne State outfielder Mike Bisenius the only twotime Daktronics First Team pick. Lippincott’s prior two All-Region honors were second team selections in 2010 (SS) and 2011 (3B). Colorado Mesa’s Jared Christensen becomes a two-time Daktronics All-Region pick as well, moving from the Second Team in 2011 to the First Team this year. Also making the move from Second Team to First Team was St. Cloud State starting pitcher Logan Birr, while fellow SCSU starter Scott Lieser went from being a First Teamer a year ago to a Second Team choice in 2012. In all, the NSIC had 10 players on the First Team and six on the Second Team while the RMAC had five on the First Team and nine on the Second Team. Colorado Mesa and St. Cloud State led the way with five total selections, each with CMU producing three on the First Team, and St. Cloud State placing two on the First Team. St. Cloud State’s top-four starting pitchers were all honored, with one (Birr) on the First Team and three starters on the Second Team. Only one other program produced three or more All-Region picks, New Mexico Highlands with three Second Team performers. Joining CMU and SCSU with two First Team selections were Bemidji State, Wayne State and Minnesota State. The Daktronics All-Central Region team was voted upon by sports information directors throughout the Central Region. Each of the 15 AllCentral Region First Team selections will now be listed on the Daktronics Division II Baseball All-America ballot, with the announcement of those All-American teams expected Friday, May 27. - The complete All-Region First and Second Teams are listed on page 2 -
