Celebrating 50 Years of BSM
The 2023-2024 school year marks the 50th graduating class and anniversary of Benilde-St. Margaret‘s. To celebrate this special occasion, events are being planned throughout the school year. The anniversary kick-off event will take place on Wednesday, August 23 at BSM.
Each year, several awards are presented to outstanding faculty and staff, honoring them for going above and beyond in fulfilling the promises of BSM's mission.
Tanner Stevens Apple Polisher Award
Demonstrating outstanding service and dedication to students is what science teacher
Mr. Stevens does. Colleagues and students alike describe him as an outstanding, positive presence in BSM’s community. Before, during, and after school, Mr. Stevens takes care to ensure his students understand challenging topics which isn’t always an easy feat when it comes to physics. Upon accepting his award, Mr. Stevens addressed his students to say, “Thank you for making my job so fun. You all are the reason I love my vocation.”
Greg Hoemke Faculty of the Year
Junior high English teacher
Mr. Hoemke is well-known for his inherent ability to make students feel welcome in his classroom. Colleagues describe him as a dynamic storyteller, avid outdoorsman, and all-around incredible educator. Haddie Gott ’28 shared, “Mr. Hoemke has always been nice and kind to everyone. He is supportive and always challenges me to do my best.” Whether he’s with students in the classroom or gearing up for an outing with BSM’s fishing & trout club, Mr. Hoemke goes above and beyond to make BSM a wonderful place.
