The New Normal By Sian Ratcliffe The year 2020 has seen huge changes in the office environment, leaving many organisations with big decisions about whether their employees will be based at home or at the office as we move forward. Either way, employee wellbeing is key. Here are some top tips for making sure your people are being looked after, wherever their new normal has them clocking in…

It can be easy to work for longer hours at home and to skip breaks, so make sure your team has a good work/life balance.

Make sure your remote employees have an appropriate work set-up. This means good lighting, a good-sized desk and a suitable chair. Consider conducting new display screen equipment (DSE) assessments for staff who are working at home.

Home workers may feel isolated or disconnected from the office team, so it’s more important than ever to stay in touch with them.

Be emotionally supportive. Many people have experienced big changes in their working and personal lives, and this may induce a range of emotions.

Make time for small talk and camaraderie. This is often an enjoyable part of an employee’s day, and remote workers may miss it.
