LONGWOOD SCHOOL Be Patient, Show Empathy, and Remain Resilient WEAR MASK & AND SOCIAL DISTANCING... Per the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), we require all staff and students to wear masks when indoors. Parents and family members are required to wear masks when they are in the building, as well.
After the first seven weeks of returning to school from the remote pandemic, we have seen patience, empathy, and resilience begin with staff and parents. We have to be patient with parents as they move back into a typical day of sending students off to school and preparing for a day at work. With staff, we must be patient as they find methods of bringing back skills that students may have lost while away from the school setting. We have to see life through the lens of others and have compassion for different people’s circumstances. Staff and parents may have experienced some trauma during this period. Parents and teachers must encourage students to overcome deficits and challenges by focusing on goals and accomplishing them. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
