MARCH 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians, We have had an absolutely amazing month learning about Hidden Figures in Black History. Hopefully you enjoyed our culminating Virtual Black History Program. This year we wanted to educate the students about prominent African Americans that do not get their due diligence, or accolades over time, hence becoming Hidden Figures in history. Students put together an A to Z Google Slide about things they learned this month, each day they watch a video slide presentation about “Someone You Should Know”, and they’ve contributed to some rich conversations around some difficult topics. Each week we held an all-school Kahoot trivia game around some of the facts that they learned each week. I must say, I’ve learned about so many people that I hadn’t even heard of. We plan to move this high engagement, energy and excitement into another themed month next month (Women’s History Month), so stay tuned. Our return to learn in-person start date has been pushed back due to the health metrics. The new date for those who chose to send their children back to school in-person is March 16th, 2021. Student will not be in session on Monday, March 15th, 2021 because we are using that day as a planning day. Although we are already getting organized for the return of our Timberwolf Pack, we want to give teachers and staff time to practice and review routines, as well as practice concurrent teaching (teaching with virtual students and students in person). f
