MAY 2021
We are gearing up for a strong finish to what has been a most trying school year. Through it all, our students have continued to be excited about learning and making connections with their classmates. I am grateful to work at Brookwood Jr. High School, which consists of students and staff who have risen to the challenge. We have come so far over the past year, and we could not have done it without the willingness of our students, the determination of our staff, and the support from our families, Superintendent and Board of Education. Thank you for all you have done to help ensure our students continue to learn and grow. Students have been working hard during State Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) Testing. 8th grade students will be participating in the Illinois Science Assessment during the month of May. • IL Assessment of Readiness (IAR) – This is the mandated state testing in Reading/LA and math for all grades 3-8. This was previously known as PARCC and ISAT before that. • IL Science Assessment (ISA) – This is the annual test given to 5th and 8th graders to analyze the learning progress of students in the area of science. We will administer this test to all 8th graders including our Remote Students. If your child needs an electronic device, any materials/supplies, or if you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at the school number (708) 758-5252, by email jlarson@brookwood167.org or by cell phone, (708) 362-0115. f
