Welcome to the 2019 BronzeLens Film Festival!

Ten years is a nice round number. For BronzeLens, it’s a milestone. And we are grateful. Our gathering emanated from a vision to shine a light on filmmaking as it was happening in Georgia, particularly for people of color. We aimed to encourage young filmmakers and give a platform for those who had achieved, to give back. We always sought to share the best in visual storytelling. Our intention was to empower in whatever way we could.

It was our “Field of Dreams”. We built it with faith and perseverance. Through the years our sponsors, volunteers, board, panelists and staff worked diligently. And filmmakers came from around the world. We have met passionate artists who have stories to tell, from love to social justice and a lot in between. People found creative soul mates and have gone on to collaborate with each other. We call all of you our family.

During the past decade, we quickly became more than a one-time event. BronzeLens does year-round programming. We believe in the power of film to speak to hearts and minds, heal, and speak truth to power. Our festival is a proud charter member of ARRAY, founded by Ava DuVernay as a distribution network for films by people of color and women. This is our third year to be recognized as an Academy Award Qualifying Festival in the Shorts Category. Just this year, we were invited to be part of Reel South, affiliated with PBS, which features short documentaries from the southern region.

BronzeLens looks forward to many more years to come and many more amazing films. We truly welcome you, your creativity and energy. We will always want you.

Greetings: I am honored to welcome guests and participants to the 10th Annual BronzeLens Film Festival.

The BronzeLens Film Festival features the work of some of the world’s greatest filmmakers and showcases a diverse slate of nearly 100 national and international feature films, short films, music videos, web series and more. This five-day event, designed to foster collaborations and stimulate creativity, provides an interactive experience for all to enjoy.

The City of Atlanta is proud to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the BronzeLens Film Festival, and we salute its continuous efforts to foster diversity while strengthening Atlanta’s role in the film and entertainment industry. While visiting Atlanta, I encourage attendees to explore the world-class attractions our city has to offer such as the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change; the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coca-Cola; the Atlanta BeltLine, Ponce City Market; the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Atlantic Station; the Woodruff Arts Center, Piedmont Park and more. A good friend once told me that if you ever see a turtle sitting on a fence post, you can be sure it didn’t get there by itself.
