WHAT IS PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT? Personal development is the method of self-improvement. It has no timescales, it is ongoing. You can continue to progress, grow and learn new things your whole life. When was the last time you learnt something new? Why not make 2020 the year for growth?

SETTING THE BENCHM

Introducing our new mentoring bench... Mentoring is a fantastic way to boost your career, whether you are the mentee or mentor. If you are being coached, it gives you a sounding board, puts someone in your corner to cheer you on and shake those invisible pom-poms as you move forward. If you are mentoring someone else, the opportunity to grow is also there and seeing a colleague flourish under your wing can be hugely rewarding. Plus, you never know what you might learn yourself.

I would like to be mentored... If you’d like to be mentored by someone within the Group, this can benef it you hugely by allowing you to build your internal network, understand your skills and become more self-aware. It can also help you to navigate your career and reach further heights. During the programme, we’ll explore your personality prof ile using the PPA Thomas International assessment, which provides insight into how you operate at work, so we can f ind the right mentor for you and set you on your journey. Along the route, there will be networking opportunities with senior leaders across the business and structured events to make sure you and your mentor are moving forward on the same page.

I would like to be a mentor… If you’re hoping to give something back or maybe learn f rom the future talent of the business, now is your opportunity. We’re looking for mentors f rom across the Group to support our coaching scheme. You’ll need to be able to commit to six days with your mentee, spread over a period of eight months. We’ll pair you with a mentee that is best suited to your experience, so you can both get the most out of being on the bench. This isn’t just about you giving up your time, during your mentorship, we’ll be hosting networking events and sharing best practice with you. Never been a mentor before? Don’t worry, we’ll ensure you have all the tools you need before you start the programme.

I’M A LEADER AT BRAV I want to be the best leader I can be... Well, you’re in luck. A whole host of development opportunities are available to you. Working with training provider Raise the Bar, the learning and development team can set you on the programme that is right for you, whether you’re f resh into your management role or have been a leader for a number of years. Don’t just take our word for it, we caught up with some of the members of staff currently going through the programme to hear f irst-hand how they’re f inding it.

I’m a new leader... Are you new to line management or have never had any formal training? Are you unsure where to start? Then, our 18-month programme is for you. We’ll take you through nine face-to-face workshops, a series of projects and coursework, all supported by a management coach. At the end of the course, you’ll be qualif ied by the Institute in Leadership and Management in Level 3 and Level 2 in Coaching.

Then, the Level 5 Institute in Leadership and Management is the programme for you. This twoyear course will take your leadership skills to the next level and allow you to reach your full potential as a manager. You’ll have a coach supporting you throughout the programme, as well as an app to keep you motivated.

Looking for your Cert CII? Then we have the perfect programme for you. Our 18-month course will give you not one, but two qualif ications; the f irst one being your Cert CII. The second is your Level 3 Insurance Practitioner, which shows you’ve not only understood the knowledge the Cert CII brings, but you have demonstrated the skills and behaviours to be the absolute best in your insurance career. The programme gives you access to all the books you need to complete your Cert CII, your exams, as well as six face-to-face workshops to ensure you’re ready to become qualified. Throughout the course, you’ll be supported by a tutor, who will be there to answer any questions and encourage you along the way. Whilst on programme, you’ll also receive your CII membership for f ree and receive a tour of the iconic Lloyd’s of London building.

A Portfolio of Work This could be from a range of evidence and will be compiled by the Apprentice. It will take into account the job role and internal systems and processes. Ready to get ACII qualified? You might have your Cert CII, maybe even your DIP, but perhaps you’re missing your ACII qualif ication. Our three-year Senior Insurance Professional programme will allow you add this string to your bow. As you learn with other technically minded insurance professionals, you’ll understand all that’s needed to achieve your ACII, whilst also completing a qualif ication in Level 6 Senior Insurance Professional, which is equivalent to a foundation degree.

LINKING YOUR LEARNING Find out how our online training portal can aid your development LINK is our award-winning platform that allows you to access learning on demand. With modules curated for all job roles, f rom the latest thinking f rom our Insurer Partners to soft skills and technical learning f rom the CII, LINK can help you reach your goals, assist your personal development and expand your knowledge. Over the course of the year, we’ll be dropping in both regulatory and Bravo Group mandatory learning for us all to enrich our understanding across multiple disciplines, and ensure we stay compliant in a regulated environment.

Have you set your CPD? Don’t forget to set your Continued Professional Development (CPD) on LINK for this year. Not only is this is a regulatory essential but it is key to your personal development, and by doing it now, you can have peace of mind that it is taken care of. The minimum level of CPD for everyone is 15 hours every year. However, if you’re Cert qualif ied or above, you will need to complete 35 hours per year. We’d advise tailoring it to your role, that way it is achievable and you can tick it off and record it effortlessly throughout the year.
