About us & what we do Brodie Consulting is a financial services marketing and communications consultancy, with a particular focus on private capital markets.

Behind the business is Alastair Crabbe, who has been working with some of the leading names in financial services on their marketing and communications for over 25 years.

Brodie Consulting is responsible for The Alternative Investor, a monthly journal, with a 4.5k circulation, that writes about the latest goings-on in the private capital market space, from both the funds and investors perspective. This is produced in conjunction with Capricorn Fund Managers and RQC Group. Other parties also contribute regularly, including The Money Maze, AIMA and Prosek.

This experience includes eight years heading-up the marketing and communications at Permal Group, one of the largest hedge fund investors in the world, initially owned by Worms & Cie before being bought by Legg Mason and ultimately EnTrust.

Built the marketing and positioning of the business as it grew from 600 employees and eight offices to 1,800 and 36 offices. Unified the brand (with multiple subbrands and acquired brands), with new name, materials, positioning and centralising all marketing activities across business lines.

Developed a brand that could take on the big banks – UBS, Goldman Sachs, etc. – as the business grew from $6 billion AUM to $45 billion in a few years.

Acquired first by Legg Mason, who bought the business from Worms & Cie, then sold to EnTrust in 2016.
