Dir: Philippe Le Guay France 2013 104m Starring: Lambert Wilson, Fabrice Luchini

Popular television celebrity Gauthier Valence embarks on a train journey to France’s L’Île de Ré with a clear mission in mind: convince his old friend Serge Tanneur to return to the stage in the lead of Molière’s ‘The Misanthrope’. The task is not that simple, as Tanneur, a once-renowned comedian, went into exile three years prior, living in a dilapidated house bequeathed by his uncle. TUE 15, FROM 6PM, CAFEBAR TEXAN FOOD NIGHT There’ll be big flavours on the menu tonight to complement Richard Linklater’s Austin-set Boyhood.

Based on stories that caused a sensation on Weibo (Chinese Twitter), the filmmaker compellingly dissects four gruesome eruptions of violence that seemed inconceivable not long ago. Immoral gangsters, unscrupulous nouveau riche entrepreneurs, desperate workers - together they provide an explosive mix in this violent four-part mosaic about the very new China. A Touch of Sin won an award at the Cannes Film Festival, yet there is no indication that the controversial film will ever be screened in China. A mustsee. BFI

There, amongst the reactors and their high doses of radioactivity, he finally finds what he’s been looking for: money, a team, a family. I AM DIVINE (CERT TBC) I Am Divine is the story of Divine, aka Harris Glenn Milstead, from his humble beginnings as an overweight, teased Baltimore youth to internationallyrecognised drag superstar through his collaboration with filmmaker John Waters. Spitting in the face of the status quos of body image, gender identity, sexuality, and preconceived notions of beauty, Divine was the ultimate outsider turned underground royalty. I Am Divine is a definitive biographical portrait that charts the legendary icon’s rise to infamy and emotional complexities. SXSW
