Schools Overview

Member Schools The British Schools Foundation is one of the largest networks of British international schools in the world; sharing not only common management and objectives, but also a passion for delivering high standards in all aspects of school life; from academic performance, to high-quality facilities, excellent conditions for staff and a commitment to provide the very best British style education in an international context.

The Head Teacher in each school is responsible for the day-to-day management, and reports to a central Board of Directors. This ensures that decisions at all levels of the organisation relate to the quality of teaching and learning in the schools and promote the interests of our pupils above all other considerations. We firmly believe that this style of management is a key contributor to the rapid growth in student numbers experienced since the inception of the Foundation.

Network and Expansion

Organisation

Ournetwork of schools is one of the largest in the world today, with 10 schools spanning 3 continents and 9 countries. BSF was established in 2003 with the opening of the British School of Beijing. BSF is now made up of schools in Nanjing in China; Moscow in Russia; Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia; Marbella and Pamplona in Spain; Tashkent in Uzbekistan, Sao Paulo in Brazil, Manilla in the Philippines, Kiev in Ukraine and Yangon in Myanmar.

Students and Academic Results

BSF schools provide a world class education to more than 2,000 students with 95% of students gaining exam results equal to or above the UK national average.

Staffing and Reputation

The British Schools Foundation now has more than 600 employees and enjoys a high retention rate due to the Foundation having an established reputation for high academic, managerial and employment standards.

Accreditation and Affiliation

All BSF schools are registered with the UK Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA) and licensed by local authorities. They are also members of an appropriate standards association for their location, such as East Asian Association of British International Schools (EABBIS), Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS).

Policy

It is the policy of the Foundation that every school be inspected by the British Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) every 5 years. ISI is the leading international inspection body for British Schools and ensures all BSF schools maintain highest standards as compared to thousands of other British curriculum schools around the world.

Broad and Vibrant

Curriculum

Our staff recognise that academic achievement is central to school life, but rather than focusing on preparing for tests we believe that a broad and vibrant curriculum creates the enthusiasm for learning that will lead to success.

Examinations

Pupils will sit the same public tests and examinations that are administered in most schools in England and will typically perform well above the UK average.

International

The English National Curriculum is a standardised curriculum and is applied by hundreds of international schools around the world, making it easy for pupils to move and continue their studies within the same system. IGCSE and A Level qualifications are recognised by all the top universities in the world including all those in the UK and the USA.

Developing the Whole Student

BSF schools go beyond the requirements of the standardised curriculum and provide many additional opportunities for personal development. Sports, music, drama and educational trips are all an integral part of the programme offered at our schools.
