TranAm
Out to launch
T
ranAm has been inviting the great and the good of the motorcycle industry down to its headquarters in deepest Hampshire for years now, the annual fashion show provides a launchpad for new additions to the ranges and also gives inspiration to dealers in setting up outfits for different biking scenarios or types of customer. This year’s event followed a familiar pattern, but with the twist of a pair of new brands being on show for the first time, a rare occurrence for a company that likes to maintain long-term relationships with all its suppliers. The new brands come to TranAm courtesy of its new owners, the Finnish distribution brand Duell, which took over TranAm earlier this year. Halvarssons and Lingstrands have been under the control of Duell since it bought out UK distributor Jofama in 2018, and have been distributed to a loyal dealer network on a direct-order basis. This worked well in the pre-Covid times, with dealers’ orders arriving from European warehouses within a few days. Unfortunately, post-Brexit changes to customs and import processes added extra time and costs,

and somewhat scuppered that method of distribution. This is what led to Duell initially approaching TranAm as it looked for a UK business to distribute, and more importantly stock, the ranges. Discussions eventually led to not only a distribution deal, but Duell actually buying the TranAm business in its entirety.
PERFECT FIT The addition of the Halvarssons and Lingstrands clothing brands has led to a bit of a re-jig of the showroom and warehouse to make space for the new ranges, with them now nestling alongside Rukka, Bering, Segura and PMJ. Halvarssons’ range fits perfectly into TranAm’s portfolio, with prices for its textile jackets ranging from £229 up to £639, and its leather range topping out at £619 for the Racken jacket. The Racken is part of the so-called “professional” range and is chosen by many police and security riders, due to its AAA CE-rating and yearround usability. It is made from water-repellent leather with triple-stitched Halvarssons seams and CE level 2 Gruven armour, with Hi-Art reinforcement on

the shoulders and elbows and a Dryway+2.0 waterproof and breathable drop liner. Hi-Art is Halvarssons’ own-brand abrasion-resistant material which is fitted between the armour and the outer material layer and adds up to 500% extra strength. The Racken is airbag compatible, and also has pockets for a chest protector. To make it more suitable to summer usage, there is a special TFL Cool System coating which reflects 80% of heat radiation, resulting in the surface temperature for the leather being up to 20oC cooler. A ladies version – the Viksand – is also available, as are matching trousers in both men’s and ladies’ fitments. In Halvarssons’ textile collection, top of the range is the AA-rated Mora, which is an adventure touring style mid-length jacket with a Dryway+2.0 waterproof membrane and an Outlast temperature-regulating liner, both of which are removable. Nubuck is used along with Hi-Art to reinforce the shoulder and elbow areas, and level 2 flexible armour can be supplemented with an optional back protector. The Mora comes in black, black/ blue or black/green options for an SRP of £639, and the matching Malung trousers come in black for £479. For customers looking for something a little lighter in weight, the Gruven jacket is made using a two layer laminate fabric with Hi-Art
