Do the short walk out to the platform overlooking the falls, or venture further down to the rockpools at Cedar Creek Falls and Rock Pools–a majestic waterway slicing through towering rock at Tamborine Mountain.

Picnic with the resident alpacas at Mountview Alpaca Farm, located at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards, or simply buy a bag of feed or give them a walk around the grounds.

Walk across the suspended walkway through the rainforest canopy at Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, taking in the incredible views from the cantilever platform hovering 30m above the valley.

25 THINGS TO DO ON THE SUNSHINE COAST THIS AUTUMN

NEAR THE BEACH

Pose for a pic with ‘Pelican Pete’ - the giant pelican sculpture at Apex Park in Noosaville. Created for the local council in 1977 as a float for the Festival of Waters Street Parade, Pete now lives permanently in this seaside park.

Feel the sand between your toes at one of the many patrolled, family-friendly beaches. Some of our favourites include Kings, Bulcock, Currimundi, Alexandra Headland, Peregian, Noosa Heads, Mooloolaba, Coolum and Maroochydore Beaches.

Stare in wonder as an array of ocean dwellers including sharks, stingrays and a multitude of fish glide overhead in the underwater tunnel at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast in Mooloolaba.

If you didn’t get your fill at Easter, you could always eat your way through the Noosa Chocolate Factory’s flagship store in Noosaville (or just enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate at their cafe).

25 THINGS TO DO ON THE SUNSHINE COAST THIS AUTUMN

Do a self-guided mini tour and treasure hunt at Queensland’s own castle - Sunshine Castle in Bli Bli. Originally built in 1972 to house fairytale dioramas, you can now do a tour, have a snack in the cafe, or shop at the lovely little toy store on the grounds. Get your skates on and head to Rollerdrome in Caloundra for one of their general or learn to skate sessions.

Pack a picnic and your Cool Cabana to spend the day at Lake Currimundi - the perfect, calm body of water for the kids to grab an inflatable and float all day.

Spend some time burning off energy at one (or more!) of the fantastic playgrounds on the Sunshine Coast. (Don’t miss Aura Treehouse Playground in Bells Creek and Aura Dino Park in Nirimba!)

Have a ball at Bli Bli Watersports, where the whole family can enjoy a session on the inflatable obstacle course, try wakeboarding, or even fish. Open 7 days a week until 1st May, then weekends only from May to September.

Sign the kids up for surf lessons with SurfGroms. With several locations across the Sunshine Coast, beginners and those with a bit more experience aged 5-12 years can learn and grow their skills with intensive and weekly lessons.

Aura Treehouse Playground

NEAR THE MOUNTAINS

Challenge the family to a race through the outdoor hedge maze at Amaze World in Tanawha. There is also mini golf, a playground, and water play here to enjoy. (Head to our Local Vouchers section to score 10% off day passes!)

Stroll the The Sculpture Garden trail in the historic grounds of the Fairhill Botanical Gardens in Ninderry and discover the unique artworks by local creatives.

Tour the largest ginger factory in the world, learn more about bees, and explore everything on offer at The Ginger Factory in Yandina. (Head to our Local Vouchers section to nab a deal on unlimited rides on the Ginger Train and the Overboard Boat Ride for the day!)

Visit the Eumundi Markets on a Wednesday or Saturday and browse the many stalls selling everything from framed artworks to hot, fresh calamari. The bakery cafe and Imperial Hotel across the road are great places to people-watch.

Take a walk through the rainforest at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and see if you can spot a pademelon, or sign up for one of their holiday workshops.

Cuddle a koala, sign up for a unique animal experience, or take a ride on the mini train at Wildlife HQ. This zoo on the grounds of the old Big Pineapple is affordable and great for families without being overwhelming in size.

Buy some melt-in your mouth fudge from Fudgyboombahs and take your time strolling the main street of Montville - one of our favourite quaint towns in South-East Queensland where you will instantly relax.

Test your fear of heights on the TreeTop Challenge

Sunshine Coast, located at The Big Pineapple, which features a variety of high ropes games and ziplines suspended throughout the trees.

Prepare for a full day out at Australia Zoo in Beerwah. We recommend visiting this expansive zoo on a cooler day and catching their free shuttle out to the African savanna zone and making your way back through the zoo to finish at the entrance.

Passing through the townships of Maleny, Montville and Mapleton, as well as the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, take a leisurely drive along the Blackall Range Tourist Drive and pause along the way to take in the breathtaking views from the lookouts.
