MIRE CENTER WETLANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER This project aims to design a proposed master plan and building through the lens of sea level rise. Determining how to best use this land to accommodate the merge between urbanity with the natural envi ronment was a major issue. This approach addresses what the site could look like with urban issues overlaid on reconstructed marshlands. The key focus is to be mindful and consider future needs and conditions the next generation of users. This project will serve as an iconic landmark and the building will serves as the literal and metaphoric bridge between urbanity and the natural envi ronment. Spanning Rose Creek with the building as a connecting device creates an emphasis on public access to the newly restored marsh and the research associated. The education of the public plays a major role as a conscience response to the restoration of Kendall Frost Marsh. This site location is also perfect for controlling the fresh water flow that needs to feed into the newly restored marsh and the proposed native landscaping on the master plan.
