Brighton College Vietnam Newsletter

Welcome to the Spring Newsletter for Brighton College Vietnam.
I hope these pages provide valuable insight into our wonderful school, showcasing our commitment to living our values of curiosity, confidence, and kindness within a global context. A defining aspect of being part of a Brighton College school is our focus on becoming the best version of ourselvesboth pupils and teachers alike. This philosophy underpins our ambition for academic excellence.
This year, we have received recognition and accreditation from leading examination boards, authorising us to deliver globally recognised courses taught by our expert teachers. We are dedicated to recruiting educators who are not only specialists in their subjects but also skilled in the science of learning and pastoral care. We know that pupils achieve their best and make the greatest progress when they feel supported and nurtured in their development as outstanding young adults.
At Brighton College, we set high expectations for academic achievement, encouraging all pupils to explore their passions through experiences such as Robotics Day, the STEM and Innovation event, Model United Nations, the Scholars’ Programme, and entrepreneurial challenges, to name just a few. Across the curriculum, pupils take part in a wide range of global competitions, both within our network of schools and beyond, including Science Olympiads and the UKMT Maths Challenge.
Ultimately, it is the experience pupils gain in their lessons and the interactions they have with their teachers that drive our academic excellence. Our teachers inspire pupils to study beyond the curriculum, igniting a lifelong love of learning that extends well beyond their time at Brighton College.
I encourage you to explore these pages and, if you are considering Brighton College for your child, to contact our admissions team to arrange a visit and experience our vibrant school community first-hand.

At Brighton College Vietnam, we believe that every pupil deserves the best possible opportunities to achieve their university aspirations. Through a carefully designed programme of academic excellence, personalised guidance, and global connections, we support our pupils in gaining admission to world-class universities.
Sixth Form Programme (Year 12-13) at Brighton College Vietnam
Brighton College Vietnam’s Sixth Form Programme offers an internationally recognised curriculum with 23 diverse subjects, allowing pupils aged from 16-19 to design their own academic pathway tailored to their strengths and future aspirations. With the support of academic and career experts, and direct guidance from Brighton College UK and its global network, the programme equips pupils to confidently pursue admission to top international universities.
Beyond a strong academic foundation, our pupils receive dedicated support from university application experts, including our Director of Futures and Head of Sixth Form (Years 12-13). Our comprehensive university preparation programme features information evenings, expert-led masterclasses, and personalised one-on-one tutorials, covering every aspect of the application process. Throughout Years 12 and 13, our Sixth Form and Pastoral teams work closely with each pupil to ensure they craft compelling applications and secure places at top universities worldwide.
Brighton College continues to lead in academic excellence, earning UK Boarding School of the Year, Top Academic School in South East England in The Sunday Times Parent Power Schools Guide 2025, along with recognition as the Top Co-Educational School in the UK and Best Sixth Form in Britain (The Week 2024). With a strong track record of university success, one-third of applicants receive offers from Oxford or Cambridge each year, alongside 700 Russell Group acceptances and placements at nearly all of the world’s top 30 universities.
Through our extensive international network - including campuses in Singapore, Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Handcross, Hove, London, and Hanoi - our pupils participate in enriching exchanges and global competitions, broadening their horizons and celebrating diverse talents.
This semester, our pupils proudly showcased their skills in prestigious international competitions. Budding scientists took part in the Element Competition, while aspiring artists demonstrated their creativity in the Leonardo Competition. Meanwhile, our young mathematicians challenged themselves in a series of Mathematics competitions designed for Prep pupils. These opportunities not only inspire academic and creative excellence but also foster a spirit of global collaboration.
Learning extends beyond the classroom as our French and Spanish pupils take part in an exciting postcard exchange with their peers at Brighton College Bangkok. Through this initiative, they introduce themselves in their target language while discovering cultural differences between Vietnam and Thailand. With three exchanges planned throughout the year, our pupils are eagerly developing their linguistic skills while forming meaningful connections across borders.
This March, more than 30 Brighton College Vietnam pupils will travel to Bangkok to compete in the Brighton College International School Games, a prestigious sporting event that unites pupils from across the Brighton College Family. Held every two years, the competition celebrates teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship. Our pupils will compete in athletics, swimming, basketball, football, and netball, seizing the opportunity to showcase their skills, build friendships, and embrace the spirit of international camaraderie.
At Brighton College Vietnam, we empower pupils to step beyond their comfort zones, embrace the stage,
Our pupil-led assemblies provide a platform for pupils to express their ideas, showcase their talents, and share their learning journeys with the school community. Through engaging presentations, performances, and interactive activities, they develop public speaking skills, teamwork, and a strong sense of leadership.
These assemblies are moments where pupils dare to try, embrace challenges, and grow into articulate, self-assured individuals. By leading discussions, presenting projects, and performing in front of their peers, they gain the confidence to think independently, communicate effectively, and take ownership of their learningskills that will empower them far beyond the classroom.
This February, over 70 Senior pupils brought history to life in Blue Stockings, portraying the pioneering women of Girton College in the 1800s. Through two captivating performances, they transported the audience into a world of ambition, resilience, and the fight for change. As a highlight of the Drama programme, the annual productions showcase the dedication, creativity and leadership of pupils, both on stage and behind the scenes.
As an integral part of Blue Stockings, our Year 7 pupils took on the challenge of leading scenic design for the school’s biggest drama production. This ambitious endeavour pushed them beyond traditional art, requiring them to think like designers, storytellers, and visionaries. By stepping up to this challenge, they proved that creativity thrives when pupils dare to lead, experiment, and push beyond their comfort zones.
Eleven of our Key Stage 4 pupils (Years 10–11) successfully completed the International Duke of Edinburgh assessment weekend with Outward Bound in the Halong area. Carrying their own equipment, setting up camp, cooking meals, and navigating hikes, they demonstrated resilience, leadership, and teamwork, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
At Brighton College Vietnam, kindness is not just a value - it is something we actively practice. Through meaningful initiatives, our pupils take action to support their communities, embrace generosity, and make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
At Brighton College Vietnam, every pupil's journey is unique - shaped by curiosity, confidence and kindness. Step into their world, hear their stories, and experience their journey firsthand.
"I love making things and working with my friends in HEALTH class. It’s not always easy to get everything right - sometimes we add too much flour or not enough water, but that’s how we learn. Working with friends makes it even more fun! At home, I also help my parents cook by making salads or soups for dinner. When I bring home dishes from school, my family always says they taste amazing, and I love it so much!"Agatha, Year 4 pupil.
"I've loved music since I was young, and since joining Brighton College Vietnam, I’ve had even more opportunities to perform. The school offers modern facilities, a variety of musical instruments, and most importantly, teachers who always encourage my passion. I feel truly grateful to have such dedicated teachers guiding me." - An Khanh, Year 10 pupil.
"Masterclasses at school not only deepen my understanding of the subjects I plan to pursue at university but also allow me to explore topics of personal interest. Our teachers help me identify my strengths and develop subjects that truly inspire me, rather than just selecting a few to focus on long-term. This experience has broadened my perspective on what I can achieve." - Lola Pinchess, Year 11 pupil.
“I struggled with Biology and found it difficult to keep up. However, with the support of Mr Vimpany, who provided me with extra examples, structured worksheets, and practical guidance, I was able to strengthen my understanding. His approach not only helped me improve my grades but also boosted my confidence in the subject, leading to a successful outcome in Year 10” - Arjun, Year 11 pupil
“Life changing - These are the words I would use to describe my experiences at Brighton College during the past educational year. Change can often be scary, but it helps one grow as a pupil, as a person, as an individual within society. It was during my time at BCVN that I realised and adapted to this fact. With the assistance of the amazing resources provided to us and thoughtful tutors that are ready to help at a moment’s notice: I have grown, both physically – to adopt a healthier lifestyle – and psychologically – to emotionally mature.” Vi Khoi, Year 11 pupil.
This semester, our pupils stepped up to spread the gift of learning. Prep School pupils organised a charity book sale, thoughtfully selecting and donating books to raise funds, while Senior School pupils collected, sorted, and sent books directly to affected schools in northern Vietnam. Their efforts ensured that pupils in disaster-affected areas could continue learning, despite challenges.
