If you can’t find gloves that are a perfect match for your gown, go for gloves that are a little lighter so your gloves won’t look dirty. When putting on your gloves, work your hand in, and then slide the glove up your arm. Don’t pull them from the top. An over zealous tug could tear the glove.

Practice taking them off before the wedding. Removing gloves can be a little trickier than you think. Some materials slide more easily than others, and with a little practice you will get a ‘feel’ for them. Always make sure your hands are perfectly clean before handling your gloves. As the ‘exchanging of the rings’ approaches, hand your gloves and your bouquet to your maid of honour and put them on again after the ceremony. Wear your gloves for entering and leaving the ceremony and for posed photos. For the receiving line it’s your choice. If you wish, you can remove only your right glove. Keep in mind that shaking hands can leave stains. Don’t wear them during your wedding dinner or when cutting your cake and never when touching up your makeup (obvious reasons) or hair (hair spray can stick to gloves). Look for gloves that complement your gown, not overwhelm it. p
