Obtaining Traffic Camera Footage in Florida: A Service for Our Injured Clients
BY BRIAN D. GURALNICK, ESQUIRE
In the chaotic moments following an accident, injured victims may overlook crucial details that can significantly affect their claims. Identifying potential sources of evidence, such as traffic or red-light cameras, private business surveillance, and even dash cams, becomes crucial in building a strong case. Our firm understands the types of evidence that will be important to your case, and most importantly, we understand how to best gather that evidence to support your case.
The most common type of camera to look for near your accident is a traffic or red-light camera. These types of cameras can be found at certain intersections around Florida. However, most of these cameras are only live cameras used by municipalities to monitor traffic. They do not record video. But our injury law firm has access to a third-party company who is recording and storing this video. If available, we will obtain this footage for our injured accident clients as part of handling their injury case.
Other types of traffic camera footage, such as security cameras in nearby residential and commercial buildings, along with vehicle dash cams may also capture critical video footage. However, such footage usually has a limited lifespan, typically stored anywhere from 30 to 90 days before being overwritten or erased. Understanding the urgency, our firm acts promptly to preserve crucial evidence. We initiate legal processes, such as filing subpoenas, to access this time-sensitive information on your behalf. We work quickly to ensure that your legal rights are protected.
If you or anyone you know has been injured in an accident in Florida, please “Call Me Personally” as soon as possible so we can make sure we can quickly obtain and preserve this crucial evidence to support your injury case and help you make the fullest medical and financial recovery possible.

I sustained significant injuries after being rear-ended by another vehicle that fled the scene. Is there still a way for me to recover compensation for my injuries?
Yes, possibly. If you elected to purchase Uninsured Motorist (UM) coverage, your insurance company will stand in the shoes of the person who hit you. Because this person is not a known person with insurance, they will be considered an Uninsured Motorist. However, UM coverage is limited to the amount of coverage that you purchased. Also, there may be an additional UM amount if you chose “stacking” UM. Please call me personally at 561-616-99787 right away so we can discuss.
