Juvenile arrested Fur will fly in sexting scandal by Ruth Roberts Staff Writer

A 14-year-old male wa nted on felony charges in connection with a sexting scandal at a Brentwood middle school has been arrested by the Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff and booked into juvenile hall. "We are all relieved that he was taken into custody and I know the families are as well," said Sgt. Walter O'Grodnick of the Brentwood Police D epartment. The youth was arrested on Monday, July 14 around 4:45 p.m., according to O'G rodnick. A felo ny arrest warrant was issued by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's office in June, but the suspect had

evaded police despite repeated effo rts o n behalf of local law enforcement. " .. . lt was agreed upon by the family and attorney that he would turn himself in to the police, but he hasn't come in yet," O'Grodnick said in an earlier interview with The Press. "We've made numerous attempts to locate him," he added. No information was available as to whether the suspect surrendered voluntarily. Californi a water wasters may be looking at some hefty fines, following thi s week's approval of mandato ry water ra ti oning by the State Water Reso urces Co ntrol Board. In an unprecedented move, residents can now be fined up to $500 a day fo r watering landscapes t hat cause runoff to adj acent properties or no n-irrigated areas, washing t hei r ca rs with a running ho se, using drinking water in a fountain or decorative feature without a recirculation pump or app lying water to paved a reas.
