Cops investigate Queen and King three suspiciousman incidents by Rick Lemyre Staff Writer Police on Wednesday were investigating the third recent incident of a suspicious man lurking in the vicinity of children in Brentwood. According to a press release issued by the Brentwood Police Department on Wednesday, a parent notified a school district employee around 7:45 a.m. that a man similar to the description in two earlier incidents was standing near the bike rack on the east side of the Marsh Creek Elementary School campus, located on Grant Street. The man was described as an adult male between the ages of 50 and 55, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a thin build and black mustache (thin and cleanly

groomed), wearing sunglasses, a tan-colored cowboy hat and a black puffy jacket. The description is similar to previous incidents occurring over the last two weekends at the Sunset Athletic Complex. On Tuesday, when the employee made eye contact with the subject, he walked over to a vehicle, described as a 1980smodel single cab Toyota pickup truck with a white camper shell and an American flag sticker on the left side of the rear window. The subject sat there for 30 minutes, at which time the employee walked toward the truck to ask if the man needed assistance. As the employee approached, the man drove away heading north on Adams Lane. The subject see Incidents page 26A

Brentwood Chamber of Commerce CEO Harry York had bad news for the nonprofit organizations that helped put on the city’s biggest annual party this year. “There is nothing to share with our partners,” York said in a meeting held in the Chamber offices on Tuesday. “I’ve been sick about this since the CornFest ended.” But the assembled volunteers, after digesting the fact that the usual bounty of charitable donations generated by the event would not be forthcoming this year quickly rebounded and be-

gan thinking of ways to help those impacted the most. York began the meeting going over the financial facts of the matter listed on the whiteboard behind him. The numbers showed that while expenses remained nearly the same as last year – about $400,000 – income had fallen almost $130,000. There was enough to pay the event’s bills, but nothing more. “I don’t think any of us saw this coming,” York told the representatives of some of the 31 nonprofits that worked the event. The festival last year contributed more than $65,000 to the local charities, which provide most of the mansee CornFest page 26A
