Get ready to celebrate Antioch ‘Joy of the Holidays’ is the theme for this year’s Holiday DeLites, presented by the Celebrate Antioch Foundation. The street parade begins Dec. 3, at 3 p.m., at 2nd and E streets, and ends at 3rd and D streets. The boat parade will cruise from the Antioch Bridge down to the Antioch Marina at L Street. The Dec. 3 event also features children’s activities, a skating rink, a Christmas Craft Faire on G Street, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the city’s tree will light up at dusk, around 5:30 p.m. The skating rink will be available to the public on Dec. 2, 3 and 4. The Holiday DeLites event
was inaugurated more than 20 years ago when the downtown merchants, in partnership with the Grannies Anonymous Volunteers, organized a parade and toy drive to help economically disadvantaged children enjoy the holiday season. “I really enjoy seeing the kids in the parade; they get really excited to be a part of things,” said Ken Turnage, the organization’s director of parades. “Holiday DeLites provides a clean, family atmosphere, and it will be a great time for everyone to come see Santa and Mrs. Claus.” For more information, visit www.celebrateantioch. org or call 925-250-0400.
