WWII HISTORY: TRAGIC TALE OF THE USS INDIANAPOLIS, PART I
WWII HISTORY: TRAGIC TALE OF THE USS INDIANAPOLIS, PART II
The greatest disaster at sea in the history of the US Navy - the story of the USS Indianapolis CA-35 is one of triumph and tragedy, suffering and sorrow, perseverance and justice, and healing and discovery. Too big of a story to tell in one session, join us for Part I where we discuss the prewar history of this ship and crew from construction and launch, to sinking and rescue. Your instructor is the only Japanese-born son of a USS Indianapolis Survivor. Hear directly from descendants of those involved (and possibly some actual survivors!) in the mission to deliver the atomic bomb, the tremendous chaos of the sinking, the rescue and recovery, and then have time to discuss and ask questions about this historical event
Join us for Part II of this series where we discuss the court martial of an innocent man, the gatherings of survivors for over 70 years, the inspirational impact a 12-year-old boy made in righting history, and the amazing and highly-improbable discovery of the ship in 2017. Your instructor is the only Japanese-born son of a USS Indianapolis Survivor. Hear directly from descendants of those involved in the story of this ship (possibly some actual survivors), and have time to discuss and ask questions about this historical event.
