I am pleased to announce that again this year we have some “first” time Key Awards. We were excited to learn that one of our members has a mobile showroom and demonstration vehicle that is fully functional and displays the latest equipment. Congratulations Viking on your “Mobile Showroom of the Year”. Just imagine how many more people will be able to view Viking products as a result of this innovative showroom.

Next we want to congratulate Night Light for their “Landscape Illumination Award” . We were impressed by how Night Light used their lighting skills in unique and different ways to tell a story after dark and enhance the value of a home.

Finally the “Renewable Energy Innovative Product of the Year” is awarded to Dow Solar for its game changing solar shingle. The Key Awards judges viewed this product on a home in Naperville and felt that its integration into the roof will surely stimulate a larger marketplace for solar panels.

Last year was the first time we awarded our “Product Showroom of the Year” . We are thrilled to announce that this year Pirch will receive this award. Located in the Oak Brook mall, the Pirch showroom provides an experience that is much different then a typical appliance presentation. Pirch is a destination that everyone needs to see.

MICHAEL KURPIEL As an active home building industry professional, and with the good fortune of having volunteer leadership roles within The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), I have gathered a vast knowledge about the home building industry from all sectors of the country as well as intimate knowledge of state and federal government legislation/regulations and their affects on the building industry.

The second part of the quote is closer to home for our volunteers. We all have tried some initiative that had frustrating components built in. Naysayers, historians (we’ve always done it this way) and over thinkers. Those who continue, despite the “frustrations,” may fail. But each failure is not a failure if you learn why you failed at that moment in time and make your course corrections. Eventually, with persistence
