NATIONAL COASTWATCH INSTITUTION (NCI) BRANCASTER

The Coastwatch station at Brancaster has now changed over to summer hours, 10 am to 6 pm, so that the increased public use of the beach and coastal waters is as secure as possible. In May, station Watchkeepers attended the Hunstanton Community Volunteer event at Hunstanton Town Hall. In the same month the station had its annual audit, called a Declared Facility Status (DFS) assessment. This is an important step, as becoming a DFS station means formal recognition as a Search and Rescue asset, the same status as RNLI lifeboats and SAR helicopters managed by HM Coastguard. We are delighted that the assessment went well, and thanks go to Kim and Matthew, who were on duty that day.

The Brancaster Staithe Sea Shanty Festival will be held in September: further details will follow.

If you would like more information on NCI Brancaster, or to find out more about becoming a volunteer, please contact Richard Burrows, Deputy Station Manager and Watchkeeper on 07535 612777. You can also find us on Facebook, if you search NCI Brancaster.
