GOWANDA — In response to a request from area businesses and organizations, the Gowanda Kiwanis Club recently donated $2,000 to Gowanda Ambulance in an effort to update the service’s ambulance fleet with new heart monitors and radios. Kiwanis President Jerry Greenlee recently made the donation to Pat Volk, president of the Gowanda Ambulance Service Board of Directors. “We responded to a request,” said Greenlee. “It was specifically for onboard equipment for transport service to bring the current ambulances up-to-date and meet current regulations.” The money will be part of the more than $100,000 needed for the new equipment. Volk said the new heart monitors, once installed,

GOWANDA — The Gowanda Thespian Society, a group of students at Gowanda High School dedicated to the arts, will perform The Addams Family at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and Thursday, Nov. 10 in the school auditorium. The show will feature students in grades 9 to 12 and is a comedic and upbeat take on the classic Addams Family. “We were looking for something that was different, See Donation, Page 27

something that was contemporary, something that was comedic and something that was upbeat,” explained Robin Smith, high school chorus teacher and director of the show. The result was The Addams Family, which revolves around the plot of Wednesday Addams, the well known daughter in the family, growing up and dating a young man who comes from a “normal” family.
