Classical Series 01 SEPTEMBER 24 + 25, 2022

Norman Huynh CONDUCTOR Andy Akiho STEEL PAN Celebrate the start of the season with the most iconic four notes in music history during Beethoven’s awe-inspiring Symphony No. 5. The program opens with an exhilarating world premiere piece by Composer-in-Residence Scott Lee honoring 150 years of our treasured Yellowstone National Park, followed by Grammynominated composer Andy Akiho on steel pan.

Classical Series 02 OCTOBER 29 + 30, 2022

Norman Huynh CONDUCTOR Michael Sheppard PIANO Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 takes the audience on a journey through darkness and light, traversing the composer’s struggle with fate and its many mysteries. The program opens with Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3, a triumphant farewell gift to his wife.

Classical Series 03 FEBRUARY 25 + 26, 2023

Norman Huynh CONDUCTOR Carrie Krause VIOLIN Join the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster Carrie Krause for a fiery start to the Classical Series performances in 2023. Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite ends the program with an explosion of power and goodness, igniting a wildfire of musical bliss.

Norman Huynh CONDUCTOR Bozeman Symphonic Choir The Bozeman Symphonic Choir joins the Orchestra for two mainstays of the sacred choral repertoire by Poulenc and Mozart. Opening the performance is Grammy-nominated composer Missy Mazzoli’s inspired piece dedicated to her father, a Vietnam War soldier followed by Emmy award-winning local composer Eric Funk’s much-anticipated world premiere.

Norman Huynh CONDUCTOR Pablo Sáinz-Villegas GUITAR Travel to the vibrant landscape of Spain as world-renowned guitarist Pablo Sáinz-Villegas shares his unbridled passion for his homeland during Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez. The journey continues with Debussy and Ravel's musical interpretations of Spain's cultural tapestry.

Norman Huynh CONDUCTOR Simone Porter VIOLIN Music Director Norman Huynh’s final Classical Series concert of the 2022/23 season will leave the audience yearning for more with Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, a symphonic poem of the joys and tribulations of the human experience. The Bozeman Symphony Orchestra welcomes break-out artist Simone Porter for Barber’s beautiful yet complex Concerto for Violin and Orchestra.
