Having a baby is such a magnificent, lifechanging experience; and A Big Baby Shower celebrates all those moments leading up to and following the momentous occasion. A Big Baby Shower helps new and expectant parents to navigate the incredible journey of pregnancy and parenting. Together, with partners and participants, A Big Baby Shower helps parents to find the beauty in the chaos of parenting, while putting their best life forward! Presented by Huggies, A Big Baby Shower opened its doors on Sunday July 21st, to approximately 1300 patrons including more than 300 mothers-to-be. All enjoyed a funfilled day at the 3rd staging of the baby and child lifestyle expo, held this year at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. Associate sponsor NCB Insurance, and all other sponsors and participants were on hand to ensure an entertaining day for all guests. Many patrons won spot prizes ranging from diapers to gift bags and 3 lucky guests received one each of a complete nursery from Singer, Johnson’s Baby, Huggies and other contributors; a Nuttall Hospital gift certificate for complimentary accommodation and a return travel ticket to a choice destination courtesy of American Airlines.

The Concept

A Big Baby Shower was born out of a strong desire to entertain and educate patron families in a holistic and captivating manner, while utilizing elements associated with chic, metropolitan events.

This year, presenting sponsor Huggies gifted many mothers-to-be-at the event with the opportunity to ‘meet’ their babies via 4D Ultrasounds offered by Dr. Joseph Williamson, Ultrasound Manager at the Shady Grove Hospital in Washington DC. “Seeing my baby in real- time was the highlight of the day for me – what an amazing event!” gushed one mother-to-be. Almost 30 guests at the event got the chance to enjoy the Huggies 4D Experience, while several others were recipients of gifts and prizes. All patrons received welcome bags with samples and brochures from sponsors. Being well aware of the high costs that are associated with welcoming a baby, A Big Baby Showers’ model of replicating a traditional baby shower, was evident in the volume of gifts given to patrons: • A fully-furnished baby’s nursery from Singer Jamaica Limited, with convertible crib from Johnson’s Baby and other accessories from Babybop Store, Babeelicious, Diaper Cake from Diapers by Michelle, NCB-Custom-made toy box by Ffrench Dezigns, Bedding from Skip Hop and Dipaer Bag and other necessities from JJ Cole Collections • A trip for a guest to an American Airlines destination • Diapers and wipes from Huggies

• Omni Educator Accounts from NCB

• Complimentary Hospital Stay from Nuttall Hospital

Bravo B3! A job well done.

I had the privilege of participating in the “A Big Baby Shower” in Jamaica. It was perhaps the most impressive non medical expo that I have attended. It was extremely well attended. The participants were left wanting more which is a very good thing. That in itself speaks to the need of Jamaica to have more of these same events. I believe that it could have gone on for the entire weekend and it would have still been very well attended and received. The vendors were full of pertinent information and every interaction that I witnessed between vendor and participant was satisfying and informative. The entire event displayed the class and innovation of B3 magazine.
