LUKAS NELSON & PROMISE OF THE REAL.
7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, Boulder Theater, 2032 14th St., Boulder, 303-786-7030.
When Willie Nelson is your dad, you know a thing or two about hittin’ the road, about playing guitar... about legacy. In fact, Lukas Nelson understands legacy so well that he knows better than to rely on the legacy of his family name, so he’s spent some time showing folks what he’s got to offer, blending rock ‘n’ roll, country, soul, folk and R&B into original songs with his band, Promise of the Real. And when he’s not busy doing that, he’s leading Neil Young’s band, or making BAFTA-winning soundtracks with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper for ‘A Star is Born.’ Nelson’s newest album, ‘Turn off The News,’ showcases his musical range and appeal with cameos from Neil Young, Margo Price, Kesha, Lucius and, of course, the Redheaded Stranger himself, Willie. —CR
