Building a better business with bots

What started in the guest bedroom of Neeti Mehta Shukla’s house has now become a $US6.8 billion robotic process automation (RPA) company.

Ms Shukla graduated with an MBA from Bond in 1997 and launched her company, Automation Anywhere, with her husband in 2003. Within minutes they already had their first customer. Now, Automation Anywhere has its global headquarters in San Jose, California and a client list including ANZ Bank, University of Melbourne, Dell, Sprint and more. It has also deployed over 2.8 million bots to support some of the world’s largest enterprises.

The company allows users to create custom software bots with Automation Anywhere technology that automates manual, repetitive business and IT processes. The bots, which utilise artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, can be configured to perform tasks assigned and controlled by the user.

The headquarters are a long way from Bond University, but Ms Shukla keeps the university close to her heart. She’s even a member of the Bond Business School Advisory Board.

“The education, professors and courses were so impactful and also really diverse. I had the time of my life. All the friends I made there have been for life, and we still keep in touch and meet when we can,” says Ms Shukla.

“It was a good combination of education that stretched my boundaries and allowed me to get the best from the world.”

Jorund Smidt Opheim

NORWAY, BACHELOR OF FILM AND TELEVISION.

“I chose Bond because I wanted to see and experience a completely different part of the world than Norway, where I’m from. It was especially important that I found a school that had both a great social and educational environment. Bond stood out to me as a university that would give me the perfect balance, and since arriving on campus, that has been proven to me time and time again.

“It was also inspiring to learn that one of Norway’s biggest filmmakers, Tommy Wirkola, went to Bond. To see that someone from the same tiny corner of the world as me has taken a similar path and succeeded was extremely inspiring, and solidified Bond as the best choice for me.”

Bachelor of Project Management

Program overview

The Bachelor of Project Management program enables you to manage projects and programs (or aligned groups of projects) within a portfolio and make decisions that lead to successful financial, social, ethical, and environmental outcomes. We adopt a hands-on approach using authentic case studies and evidence-based research. You can apply your new capabilities to any type of project in any industry sector. Our main objective is to teach you how to ‘make things happen’. This is the primary purpose of project management.

Projects are vehicles of change and project managers are change agents. Whether you lead change related to initiatives for product creation, service provision, or systems development, project managers set out to deliver outcomes that are on schedule, within budget, as specified and with no surprises. This is achieved through a mix of technical, tactical, and strategic decisions that maximise value and minimise unnecessary effort.

The Bachelor of Project Management is taught by an experienced team of industry professionals and research-informed educators using weekly interactive classes held over two years (six semesters) full time.

Career outcomes

Project management is a global profession, with over one million certified practitioners registered with the Project Management Institute (PMI). More than ever, project managers are necessary in almost every sector of business. With specialist skills in problemsolving, team leadership, change management, stakeholder communication and risk management, you could find work in the government, community, or private sectors in industries including but not limited to construction, business, engineering, manufacturing, mining, healthcare, property development, information technology, and disaster management.

Key features

• A direct career pathway from high school to professional certification as a project manager available through Bond, the first and only university in Queensland to provide this option.

• Program endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) and structured around the international management standard PMBOK® Guide, the international standard for project management.

• Graduate with the skills to measure project success and be an effective decision-maker, capable of delivering projects on time, within budget, as specified, and with no surprises.

• Optionally articulate to our Master of Project Innovation.

• Choose electives based on your career ambitions or that interest you from across the university.
