National Grid chose BOND Civil & Utility to provide general contracting services for the installation of two new Linde vaporizers at the existing Greenpoint Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)Facility. BOND performed all of the civil and concrete work site associated with the installation of the new pre-engineered metal building that houses the vaporizers. This included site grading, excavation, backfill, foundations and site restoration. BOND Civil & Utility’s primary scope of work included the installation of 26 cast in place pipe supports. We also supervised and managed subcontractors responsible for the mechanical and electrical installations, demolition and steel erection.

BOND Civil & Utility coordinated extensively with ConEdison to work through different permit restrictions and also coordinated with commercial and residential owners to minimize impact to the existing businesses and infrastructure. Throughout the contract, BOND Civil & Utility focused on the highest levels of safety, quality and customer relations to execute on the work.

BOND Civil & Utility was selected by ConEdison to install 6,250 linear feet of a major gas pipeline in the Bronx. The project presented several challenges that BOND Civil & Utility was able to overcome and manage. BOND Civil & Utility successfully installed a welded connection steel main through a network of existing utilities in an urban setting. This project had many challenges and included: work hour stipulations, congested city streets and coordinating with vendors to offload delivery of materials. BOND Civil & Utility met these challenges, contributing them to becoming a preferred contractor of Con Edison.

LUMP SUM CONSTRUCTION bond’s services

The BOND Civil & Utility Construction Team are installing approximately 5-miles of 20” steel gas main to run parallel to an existing main, for initial operation at 99 psig, but built to a 200 psig MAOP spec. This project, located in West Warwick and East Greenwich, RI will be built over the course of three years. While the majority of the pipeline will be installed by open-cut methods, the scope will include two HDD’s and six Jack-and-Bores.

BOND Civil & Utility worked directly with Enbridge (Spectra Energy) to complete all meter and regulator station work as part of the AIM project. BOND Civil & Utility worked closely with all facets of Enbridge’s team, including Project Management, Right-of-Way Agents and Materials Management group, to ensure an on-time project that minimized disruption to Enbridge’s existing system as well as their customer’s systems.

BOND Civil & Utility successfully completed work at 22 new and existing stations over a twoyear period utilizing a centralized prefabrication shop that not only enhanced safety, quality and schedule but also allowed for the most efficient deployment of labor and equipment.

This project involved three sites in MA and two sites in CT, all working simultaneously to upgrade existing stations and build two new sites from the ground up. The majority of the stations were worked under live conditions and temporary bypasses installed to maintain gas flow white the old stations were reworked. BOND Civil & Utility provided self-performing crews for this work as well as some specialty subcontractors under our management to ensure the work was performed safely.

The Towantic Meter Station project scope and location provided BOND Civil & Utility a competitive opportunity to demonstrate its passion and quality to a strong client, Gemma Power Systems. The Towantic Meter Station project was a greenfield job which called for furnishing, fabricating and installing a natural gas meter station feeding Gemma Power System’s new gas fired power plant in Towantic, CT. The scope also included tie-in to the existing main, 500 ft run of 16” CS coatings, pressure test, electrical, controls and all associated civil and mechanical work.

The project scope included: a tie-in to the existing Millennium 30” pipeline, two (2) filter separators, two (2) 16” ultrasonic meter runs, three (3) 10” ultrasonic meter runs, two (2) 30” ultrasonic meter runs, four (4) regulators runs, a regulation vault and prefabricated regulator building, one (1) line heater, EGM building and tie into Enbridge 30” and 42” pipeline. All work was completed in an operational station.

The scope of work included: the installation of a 48-inch cased crossing under Interstate 95 via pipe ramming, a 24-inch cased crossing under MBTA tracks via an auger bore, installation of approximately 3.8 linear miles of pipe through 3 residential communities, crossing of major street intersections and approximately 1.2 linear miles of pipe on Route 1.

BOND Civil & Utility worked with LMC Industrial Contractors and other contractors on this highlycoordinated site to complete the foundations and building erection on a very tight schedule. The first phase of the project involved the placement of more than 1,000 cubic yards of concrete, as well as coordinating the setting of three compressors and multiple skids within a tight site in order to meet a critical supply date for Williams. The second phase of the project involved the placement of more than 1,200 cubic yards of concrete while working on an active compressor station site to complete the setting of five additional compressors.

National Grid requested BOND Civil & Utility to service this project helping to increase their gas distribution network in Staten Island. Chelsea Gate Station will increase stability among commercial businesses and residents by decreasing the existing transmission pressure gas lines. Our team will install roughly 2000’ of a 12” Steel Distribution main tying into a newly constructed two stage regulator station and installation of 690’ of a 12” Steel Transmission main from an existing 20” HP gas line that supplies a third of Staten Island.
