FEATURED EVENT: CEO SPEAKER SERIES
WITH CORD CHRISTENSEN | FOUNDER & CEO, PET IQ
How did an idea conceived at a card table become the nearly billion-dollar operation it is today? Cord Christensen, CEO of Eagle-based PetIQ, shared that story on Sept. 14 at the Boise Metro Chamber’s CEO Speaker Series.
Christensen said, “You just never know, when you start a business, how it’s going to go. I have built a lot of businesses but the ones that…have that really different strategic need and difference are the ones that kind of run and do amazing things if you have great leaders and you bring great people along and drive the business… and that’s kind of the story of PetIQ.”

BECOME A CHAMBER AMBASSADOR!
Chamber Ambassadors are vital volunteer leaders who assist us in growing and retaining membership. NONPROFIT COUNCIL TOUR
The Nonprofit Council enjoyed their tour of Idaho’s Old Penitentiary in September! Built in 1870, the Old Idaho Penitentiary has over 100 years of stories, escapes, and scandals – we enjoyed hearing all about it and learning more about Boise’s wild west days.
Thank you to the Idaho State Historical Society for offering us this guided tour! To learn how you can participate in our Nonprofit Council Tours, reach out to tthomas@boisechamber.org! To learn more about the Old Penitentiary, visit: history.idaho.gov/oldpen
RESIDENCE INN-DOWNTOWN
The Residence Inn Boise Downtown/City Center is located in the heart of Idaho’s capital. It is a modern, all-suite hotel ideal for people traveling to the area for business or leisure. The Boise Centre, Boise State University, and the Idaho State Capitol building are nearby attractions. The beautiful roof deck with two fireplaces, music, and seating was perfect for our Staff Happy Hour!
SINODINOS
On October 6th, we hosted a breakfast for the current Australian Ambassador to the U.S., and the Consul General of Australia from San Francisco. There was a great discussion about enhancing Idaho’s relationship with our allies from down under!

ADVOCACY UPDATE
Stay up-to-date on your city and state's government affairs
Tori Thomas Community and Government Affairs Manager
Dear Readers,
We have had quite the historical turn of events these past couple of months!
The Boise Metro Chamber’s support of tax relief has always been coupled with the ability to raise funding for education. The legislators were called back to a special session to address House Bill 1 which does just that - offer tax relief to our residents, additional funding to our schools and a lowered tax rate. A huge thank you to our state leaders who supported this bill. In addition to that win, we spent this past legislative session and summer working towards support of the CHIPs act and the hope Micron would bring their microchip manufacturing facility here. Semiconductors
aren’t just an American Industry, they’re an Idaho Industry and that’s why we are so proud of all the work that has been done, both on a state and national level, to make this possible for our state! We look forward to new jobs, opportunities and growth.
As most of us that live in the PNW know, we are underserved when it comes to rails, Amtrak, and trains. The City has proposed an intercity rail between Boise and Salt Lake City to the Federal Rail Administration that could fix this problem.
This proposal asks to be considered in a study as a future passenger rail service. Bill Connors, Boise Metro Chamber’s President & CEO, recently met with Dennis Newman of Amtrak to share with him the coalition that has been started. We are hopeful this will be a fruitful attempt to bring better transportation to the Mountain West!
And now, as we approach a new legislative session we are very grateful to all those, in and out of our state, that are continuing to make Boise the best place to live and do business.
