Chamber Announces 137th Annual Gala Keynote, Motivational Speaker Garth Callaghan by Lindsay Moser, Boise Metro Chamber
The Boise Metro Chamber’s 137th Annual Gala Dinner will be held on Thursday, October 15 from 6–9:15 p.m. at the Boise Centre. This year’s Gala will feature author and public speaker, Garth Callaghan, also known as the “Napkin Notes Dad.” Callaghan's Napkin Notes represent recovery, hope, courage, and resiliency – the theme of this year’s Gala. Callaghan is a three-time cancer survivor and began writing notes on napkins to his daughter when she was twelve years old and including them in her lunch boxes. After being given an 8% chance to live beyond five years, Callaghan wrote notes every day for the remainder of his daughter’s high school years. Callaghan quickly became a nationwide phenom known as “the Napkin Notes Dad” and authored his first book in 2014, Napkin Notes. Callaghan has appeared on several television shows including Good Morning America, Fox and Friends, Dr. Oz, and many others. Napkin Notes was picked up by Reese Witherspoon’s film production company to produce an adaptation film based on the memoir. In addition, comedian and entertainer, James Cunningham, will emcee the event. The 137th Annual Gala is supported by presenting sponsor Regence Blue Shield of Idaho, platinum sponsor Bank of Idaho, and gold sponsors Albertsons and Blue Cross of Idaho. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Contact Teresa Kirkmire at 472-5241 for details.
