Welcome From WLB Livestock Our 2015 Internet Heifer Calf Sale was the last time we auctioned any Simmental females. It is with great anticipation and pride that we now offer the “Top Cut” of our replacement heifers as well as the cream off our 2019 heifer calves. We asked Darryl Snider and Taylor Richards to put this special group together having 62 yearlings and 72 heifer calves to choose from. No one held a gun to our heads and made us let them do it and we didn’t once tell Darryl and Taylor, no you can’t have that one. We hope your curiosity will get the best of you and you will choose to come and have a look what “our best” looks like. Adding to the opportunities in this event we have chosen to offer a limited amount of semen on two of our red herd sires, Blockbuster and Carhartt. Sold in packs of five so even the smallest breeder can get in on this opportunity. The young mothers at WLB have been an instrumental part in building our reputation for producing quality beef bulls for our bull customers (65% of the bulls in our 2019 bull sale were out of either first or second calf mothers). We also depend on them to make a contribution to the continued strengthening of our cow herd. That’s why our motto “Bulls are our business, Our cows keep us in business” hangs prominently on our sale barn wall. The bred heifers we are offering have come out of, what is without a doubt, the strongest set of yearling heifers we have ever produced. They are being offered as a testament to our program and its genetic and productive worth. We would like to thank Darryl and Taylor for their expertise in selecting this group. They have been through the heifers more than once and know them pretty well. Be sure to call on them if you need an unbiased opinion. We have told them to call them as they see them. It’s also what we tell them when we use them for sourcing a new herd bull. We are again pleased to have Live Auctions handling the online bidding. They have been an important part of our sales since 2009. Jessy’s professionalism along with her knowledge of superior beef cattle have made LiveAuctions a valuable asset for our online bidders. We hope you will plan to be our guest and come to walk through the females on offer as well as tour through the bull calves that are competing for catalogue space in our 16th annual bull sale(March 24, 2020). We think we have both replacement females and herd bull prospects that will catch your interest. The biggest compliment we can receive is you taking the time to join us at the farm on December 14, 2019. We look forward to being your host. Please give us a call if you have any questions Sincerely,

Bill & Nancy Biglieni

Welcome From Bohrson Marketing Services

Important Information

On behalf of Bohrson Marketing I would like to welcome you to the prestigious WLB Female Sale. It’s been a pleasure for the Bohrson Team to be working with Bill and Nancy for the past number of years, watching this program develop into your go to program to purchase your next herd sire from. WLB has a no-nonsense approach to raising herd bulls as well as focusing on EPD numbers. Bill is very selective on his herd sires that they have purchased and raised. To reference a quote from a very good friend of mine - “every great bull is backed by a great mother”. This statement holds true to these hand selected, front end matrons in the making. As you go through this sale offering you would have to drive the wheels off a brand new pick up truck to find a more uniform group of bred heifers that WLB has put on offer for you. Taylor and I worked through these heifers this summer and we were both very impressed with the uniformity, the consistency and the type of heifers in this offering. If you are looking for a possible donor mother or power brood cow that’s going to build you your next herd bull it would be a pleasure for one of the crew to sit down and discuss these great heifers with you. Sincerely,

Accommodations - Best Western :: 204-727-7997 Lakeview Inn and Suites :: 204-728-1880

We think this blaze faced “Momma to be” is pretty darn cool. She’s got cow written all over her with her freaky depth, big rib, and feminine broody presentation. She’s very smooth in her stride and darn attractive in her presentation. Her dam, needs no introduction. 43Y’s influence to date, has been through the four blazefaced sons that have sold in our bull sales. One of these sons, WLB Eldorado 3615C went to Semex. Eldorado daughters sell as lots 7 & 8. Another 43Y son, WLB Blaze On 361E topped our 2018 bull sale at $20,000 going to Ferme Gagnon, Quebec. Heifers bred to him sell in this sale. You will find six 43Y daughters working at WLB. Two have progeny selling as lots 2 and 47. Two others have bulls in the bull pen you should have a look at (tags 489 and 493). With her API and TI ranking in the top 5% and 2% respectively you have a lot of reasons to be front and center for this feature lot. Confirmed in calf to April 20 AI to Skors High Roller 34C. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F May 28 - June 28.

The EL Tigre 52Z/43Y flush was a darn good one! It put a number of productive daughters in our herd. Among them is the attractive dam of this blaze faced female. This blaze faced heifer is definite keeping material. Lot 2’s confirmed pregnancy to WLB Skorze 372Y will add loads more genetic power to this feature lot. Our unfortunate loss of 372Y this summer can be your gain through his limited service available only in this sale. Confirmed in calf to May 27 service to WLB Scorze 60Z 372F. Proof here, that we are committed to selling our top breds in this “first for us” event. We get very excited when we think of the future possibilities that exist with these two Cowboy Cut daughters. Their maternal power is stacked deep with the combination of Enticer 4W, High Roller 12T, and Cowboy Cut. If you want good females, bred to produce and great ones that come with superb numbers then you want to jump in on these two. Their API and TI of 1% puts them in a very ELITE group. The sky’s the limit on the possibilities with these two sisters. You can bet we are keeping a right to flush on these two. At the buyers convenience. She defines deep and broody! Her dam was our choice out of the Workman Brothers dispersal. We thought we bought a really good one when we bought her dam but we think lot 5 will out do her mother. We think she’s that good. She’s the reason why we chose to use High Roller 34C again this year. Her volume, body type, ancestry, and EPDs all add up to a significant opportunity for the astute breeder that is serious about adding a great one to their program. It’s an understatement when we say it’s tough to let this one go! We have her bred to Blaze On. Take a look at his maternal sister that sells as lot 1, then think of the possibilities. We would like to retain the right to a flush. At the buyers convenience. Confirmed in calf to April 18 AI to WLB Blaze On 365C 361E. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F on May 28 - June 28.

We really like what High Roller 34C brings to our program. His calving ease, growth, and maternal gifts are traits we can never get enough of. That’s why we have used him as our primary AI sire in the black heifer division. This blaze faced girl deserves serious consideration. She’s not just easy on the eyes; she has a very attractive, hardworking dam to back her up.

We don’t have many Eldorado daughters to offer but the few that are available will hold their own in what we hope you find to be a quality group. We’ve watched this one all summer and she hasn’t disappointed us with her progressive development toward motherhood. Of the five L205 daughters we were privileged to work with, the dam of lot 8, holds our admiration as much as any of them because of all the sons she has put in the top end of our bull sales. One of them WLB 4170A was our $25,000 high selling bull in 2014 going to Stoughton Farms. Another went to Leonard Bergen. Most of her sons sold above the sale average. 3551W was a real producer and when you combine her productivity with the productive track record of 43Y, the dam of Eldorado you have to admit that Lot 8 should be a good investment. She’s long spined, moderate framed and has a natural look to compliment her ample thickness. Lot 8 is bred to have good ones and raise them to be great ones. Confirmed in calf to April 18 AI to Skors High Roller 34C. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F May 28 - June 28.

These two flush sisters are very similar in type and dimension. To choose one over the other won’t be an easy task. We had plans for at least one of them to take their place at WLB and figure in our future production but both add so much to the strength of this offering we decided to make both of these attractive Go Daddy daughters available instead of selling choice. Now you can choose one or both of these maternal sisters to WLB Bounty Hunter 365C and they can influence your program.

We have “great expectations” for the Stoughton daughters. Stoughton falls right in there with Riddler, Blockbuster, and El Tigre as the most consistent sires we have ever used, AI or natural. This Stoughton daughter is backed by the Belle 3554W cow family which is one of the original L205 flush sisters that have consistently produced some of our high selling bulls and females. They often show up back in the pedigrees of some of our best. Lot 17 is wide based and squares off really nice on all four corners. Be sure to give this March heifer a good look. We’re confident you will like what you see! Confirmed in calf to April 18 AI to WLB Blaze On 365C 361E. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F May 28 - June 28.

She’s easy to like with her broody appearance but look up her dam’s production record and you may decide you like this top end female enough to move her to the top of your list. Her Blow Out dam is one that sets the bar high for the other cows at WLB. She’s had six sons, which all have sold in our bull sales. The only other daughter she has had, other than lot 23, has produced three sons to date, two have also sold in our bull sales and her third son rates very high in this year’s bull pen. Look for tag # 486. Young females such as lot 23 are the type we love to build our program around. If you aren’t convinced yet then have a look at her numbers. Definitely Impressive! An attractive blaze faced Simford female that has a lot of future ahead of her. No matter what sire you mate her to, she’s sure to add some marketability to her calf. The good ones keep showing up in the pedigrees for years and such is the case with the ancestry for lot 27. Mr Arapahoe, Black Advance, Aftershock, all contribute to the genetic strength that comes with this black Blockbuster daughter out of Black Ellie May 30R. 377F resembles her dam as much as any daughter she has had. We are also pleased with the many contributions the Baronson daughters have brought to our program, especially their powerful maternal work ethic. The dam of lot 29 is a maternal sister to lot 16. She’s full of volume and probably possesses the most maternal powered pedigree of any lot in the sale. When we heard Blacksands was selling out, we immediately set our sights on getting one of three Tess 25T daughters that were selling. We all know Tess 25T as the dam of Springcreek Lotto 52Y. Long story, short, we brought home two of those Tess 25T daughters. Lot 30 is out of one of those daughters and lot 21 is a daughter of the other. 56A has proven her worth by producing two herd bulls, WLB Salute 368C and WLB Go Daddy 368D, both which have daughters in this event. As was said earlier we like building strong cow families. That’s why we matched 56A with LFE Rig 842D. He added Riddler and LFE Heaven Sent 30X to an already strong pedigree. It most definitely worked! On top of being supremely bred she can only be described as extreme in her depth and very well balanced, being barreled to the max. Show her, flush her, or just let her be the great cow she was bred to be. Someone is gonna have fun making that choice.

The WLB cowherd is built in part on females we have purchased through the years from strong reliable Simmental programs across Canada. As you browse through this catalogue you will see the influence of some of these individuals by their progeny that are in this sale or on the pedigrees that list them two or three generations back. Her sire, WLB Go Daddy 368D is an example of what we did with some of those purchases. He is an El Tigre son out of a Tess 25T daughter that we purchased in the Blacksands dispersal (see footnotes for lot 30). Lots 31 is the result of a flush of the high selling cow we purchased from the Stoughton Farms dispersal. We also purchased the Cobra bull calf that was at her side at the time. He’s now our lead off black herd sire, SFM Stoughton 18D. Some of his first daughters are a feature in this sale. The 119B/Go Daddy flush was a very good flush resulting in five females and 2 bulls. Those two bulls will sell next spring, March 24, 2020. Look for tag #s 74 & 326 in the bull pen. What we like best about lot 31 isn’t just how well she is made or the great hair coat she has. It’s the fact she has two darn good cows (56A & 119B) in her pedigree and they are both in their prime and grazing and producing at WLB.

A productive two year old’s first calf! We bought her mother in dam from Springcreek’s Annual Cow Sale. Her dam was one of the best uddered females selling that day, small teated, level, and squared off in her udder. We would love to keep this one back but she’s the type that will get people talking down the road about the good productive females that sold in this sale. We think she’s a top cow prospect, great show prospect, and a potential herd bull mother.

It was a good day for us when we purchased Blockbuster. He has catapulted our red program forward more than any sire we have used to date. This fancy lead off heifer is a full sister to WLB Encore 443F, who was our $52,500 high selling bull in our 2019 Spring Bull Sale going to Labatte Simmentals and Oberle Brothers. Her dam is one of three Bert’s NR females grazing our pastures. Her strong pedigree and the cow potential she possesses are just two of her many assets. Her type and physical power make her a good candidate to hang a show halter on. When you come to the sale be sure to walk through our bull calves to have a look at the Blockbuster sons.

We look at buying a new herd bull as making an investment. We then want that individual to become an asset. While we can’t say that has been the case on every bull we have purchased we can definitely say it is so with Blockbuster. We have decided to make a limited amount of semen available. This is a limited opportunity to grab ahold of as you won’t have another opportunity to buy Blockbuster semen for at least another 12 months. His sons that sold in our bull sale this spring and the heifers selling in this sale represent his first calf crop. Two of his more prominent sons to sell this spring was WLB Encore 3011C 443F, $52,500 to Labatte Simmentals and Oberle Bros. and WLB Blood Runner 3011C 361F, $13,000 to Kline Simmentals, ND. We have long watched the Maxwell program, the bulls they sell and the bulls they buy, so it was with confidence that we bought Carhartt, sight unseen and with Darryl’s help. His Springcreek Teddy dam has recorded a number of low birthweight progeny which have also gone on to record low bw progeny of their own. His sire, Red Whiskey is known for siring the cowman’s kind. Whiskey progeny have body and substance. Such is the case with Carhartt. He walked with a significant number of females as a yearling bull and we were very impressed with the bull we had left at the end of his breeding season. As a special lot in this event we offer you the opportunity to utilize this promising young sire in your program.

Her dam(one of our favorite red cows) has given us a number of very saleable bull calves and when she blessed us with a dark red Blockbuster heifer calf it was a given that it would stay here at WLB. When we look at 430F and the other Blockbuster daughters we can’t help but think how lucky we were to have Darryl advise us that Blockbuster was the bull to buy. Just as you will see in lot 38 and her sisters Blockbuster is consistent in his type and color. It was evident in our bull pen this spring and you will see it also in his daughters on sale day. Her mother’s sire WLB Goose 743T 388W left us with some very productive daughters. His dam brought in her 10th calf this fall having produced eight sons. All sold in our bull sales except for Goose who sold after we used him to our good friend/customer Les Jack, Rocanville, SK. One daughter is in the cow herd and the other is in the heifer pen. Lot 38 is a 3/4 sister to lot 37 and should be a perfect match with Game On. Confirmed in calf to May 3 AI to Erixon Game On 42Z. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F May 28 - June 28.

We are anxiously waiting to see these Big Northern daughters as working mothers. Their inherent ability to have a good one and raise it to be a great one should be a given. Milk, maternal calving ease, and performance were always dominant traits of every daughter of L205. Lot 43 is a moderate framed, tanky type of a female that should be workable on a variety of sires. The first calf she’s carrying is by Semex’s hot new red Simmental sire, Epic.

Confirmed in calf to April 19 AI to WS Epic E152. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F May 28 - June 28.

389F is the only red Go Daddy daughter in the sale. With both parents being black it was a nice surprise to see this dark red female when she was born. Check the birth weights of her 8 maternal siblings and you will find that her dam 380U tends to peel the birth weight off of her calves. This daughter isn’t as big in frame as her mother but she possesses the extra volume handed down from both her sire and dam.

Don’t cross this dark red heifer off just because there are bigger ones in the pen. She rates pretty high in our books and we are confident she will make some breeder happy they came to the sale. She’s square made, deep ribbed and loaded with a real brood cow look. Her genetics is about as good as they can be for guaranteeing maximum productivity in this Game On daughter. Look at her numbers! Calving Ease, performance, maternal, you get the whole shebang including a 3% API and a 4% TI.

Best advice we can give you is to jump in on these Game On daughters. What they lack in show ring niceties they make up for with their mothering abilities. What looks to be one of our lead off red bulls for March 24, 2020 has a two year old Game On mother. He won’t be the only one to get his genetic greatness from Game On the calving ease Crosby son. Game On’s numbers come to life on the farm. He indeed walks the talk (API -1% and TI - 2%). This moderate framed heifer’s depth and substance are complimented by her balanced profile. The bottom side of her pedigree traces back to a Conray cow we picked up in Conner’s dispersal. She was as perfect uddered female as we have ever worked with. Her genetic influence is credited for the nice tight, small teated udders that are common in this cow family. Confirmed in calf to April 18 AI to WS Epic E152. Exposed to NUG Carhartt 211F May 28 - June 28.

Stoughton 18D and El Tigre 52Z have proven to work very well together. You will find two other females with that cross in this sale, lots 18 and 47. In addition be sure to look up tag numbers 489, 490, and 493 in the bull pen to get a complete picture on why it’s a match up that we will continue to use in our future breeding plans. We’ve said it before in this book but this red heifer is one that would of stayed home if it wasn’t for the want of making this a special event.

Here’s a red Stoughton daughter that will have plenty of friends. She’s been one of our favorites since she was only a few days old. She’s a settled individual with a perky attractiveness, wide based, big middled, & easy doing. Her two year old dam is a flush sister to WLB Big Northern 4161D, our $32,000 high selling bull in 2017 going to Lewis Farms.

Just look for one of the really deep ones in the red pen and I’ll bet you’ve found 410F. Her dimension and volume is impressive and she also comes with genetics that is chocked full of great uddered milky individuals on the dam’s side of her pedigree. With her service to Carhart she could represent the best pairing of any heifer in the sale.

If you go four generations back on the bottom side of her pedigree you will find Black Ms New Trend 412H, one of our favorite foundation females. She had breed greats such as Circle S 304Y and Charles Pride not once but twice. 412H could best be described as an attractive, feminine, beef cow with a perfect udder. I see a lot of 412H’s physical attributes in this attractive red Westcott daughter.
