Welcome to KT Ranches 3rd annual bull sale. We are progressively acquiring leading genetics to improve our herd to bring you better bulls year over year. This year’s offering is much improved, and our goal is to include the sale of females in 2024.
Our leap in progress comes from the direction and influence of Geoff and Lacey Anderson. They joined us a year ago, jumping in with both feet just as we started calving. Meeting all the challenges of calving, learning the existing operation, seeding, getting cattle to range, adding new machinery, and harvesting kept everyone’s focus.
Geoff planned and implemented our embryo program for 2022. We are excited about the mating’s and the quality of calves hitting the ground. This is our best calf crop to date. We went to a few exclusive shows this year exhibiting and showcasing our cattle. Showing went extremely well with Forged of Fire winning Armstrong, and Edmonton Farm Fair, and was an Agribition Supreme top ten qualifier. Our Darlin’ 2J heifer, purchased from Erixon’s, was a crowd favourite, was The First Lady Champion, reserve champion female and qualified for top ten in the Agribition Supreme.
Our embryo program with Dr. Michael Walker, Abbotsford Veterinary Service, allows the flushing and creation of embryo’s closer to home. We put in 800 embryos from elite sires such as Betts, Walk the Line, Forged of Fire, Glacier, Reddington, and Caliber to name a few. Crossed with donors such as Brooking Countess 9026, Erixon Darlin’ 2J, Coleman Donna 720, SAV Blackcap May 1420 (dam of SAV Landmark and Certified), and SAV Blackcap May 5440 we wait in great anticipation of next year’s calves.
All calving is at Cherryville this winter and as I write this, we are 65% done on a total of 1200 females. With our current team of Jason Mulbach, Conner Seehaver, Doug Rainkie, Landon Prebushewski, Stephan Janse van Rensburg, William Boy, Rosie & Roberto, Lasaro Pereira, Nathaniel Isaac, and Les Hillier, daily operations are going well, and the 2023 calf crop is strong.
For the first time, we are going live with our BC bull sale. The bulls on offer all have very good feet, quiet temperaments, and are structurally sound. We are very pleased with the improved quality of the animals in this year’s offering. All bulls have been examined by our veterinarian for soundness and been semen tested. We stand behind our animals and commit to the guarantee outlined in this catalogue. If your bull arrives and you are unhappy, or have problems during the breeding season we will replace him or find an acceptable solution. Repeat customers will receive a discount on their purchases as a thank you for your support of our program.
One of the things we like so much about this business is how people are willing to share their knowledge as well as provide help and assistance. I would like to say thank you to the fellow purebred operators who work with and shared their knowledge with us. Special thanks to Scott Bohrson and his crew as well as Ryan Dorran, Rod MacLeod, Nate Marin, Cody and of course Keith Altwasser. Your support is huge for us. On behalf of everyone who is part of the KT Ranch team, thank you for considering our animals. We look forward to seeing the future impact on your programs.
Kevin & Tracey CarsonIts an honour to welcome you to the Annual KT Ranches bull sale. The first KT Bull Sales were timed online Auctions on DLMS, thank you for everyone supporting those, this year we are very excited to invite everyone to the Ranch in Cherryville for our first live bull sale.
The KT program is young in age but the quality of the cattle and genetics is second to none. It’s exciting everyday to be able to able to drive around and look at SVS Betts, RF Caliber, Mader Walk The Line, R-Plus Reddington, Rust Forged of Fire, Belvin Honeyjack, HF Night Moves, U2 November Rain, Musgrave Equity, some of the Simmental and Angus greats, and add in the donor arsenal of some of the breeds’ best females, the quality of the cattle and mating options are mind blowing. With the aggressive embryo program, and the baby calves on the ground, the future looks bright, and we are full speed ahead. The bulls on offer in this year’s sale are a solid functional group of bulls that have a lot to offer the beef industry. Our goal is to raise the best cattle possible, with always keeping the commercial cow/calf producer in mind, we want to be the go to source for commercial cowman to source genetics to make their lives easier, and more profitable. We try to eliminate as many problems as we can with these bulls, but they are still cattle, and problems do happen. We want to be the first to know, if you have a problem, and will do our best to fix the problem as quickly as we can. We will have extra bulls around if you need a replacement bull to finish your breeding season. These bulls are a very good cross section of our program with many being out leading donor cows. There is power bulls, calving ease bulls, Simmental, Sim Angus and Angus bulls that will cover many of the bases in the commercial cow calf industry.
A big thank you to all of the crew at the ranch, there is a lot cows around, and a lot of work to get done everyday, and we couldn’t do it without a great crew at the ranch.
We had an incredible year showing cattle across Western Canada, winning many banners, buckles and championships. A couple of the highlights were Rust Forged of Fire being crowned Supreme Champion at Farm Fair International in Edmonton and the IPE in Armstrong. Erixon Darlin’ being Supreme Champion in twice in BC at Dawson Creek and the IPE as well as being the Frist Lady Classic Champion and Reserve Champion Simmental at Agribition. Huge thank you to every that helped us at all the shows last fall.
We are very excited about our program and the bulls we have on offer. We have some great programs outlined on page 7, for repeat and volume purchases as well as our guarantee on your purchases moving forward.
We would like to invite everyone to the Ranch at Cherryville sale day or anytime before the sale. If you have any questions please give me a call, look forward to seeing you sale day!
