Welcome to the first annual Cowboy Trail Bull Sale. Cowboy Trail (aka hwy 22) is the perfect name for this sale as every consignor lives very close to the Cowboy Trail. When I was approached about this sale it made perfect sense to me, cattle that are raised in the west country be sold in the west country. I call these consignors friends, I have sat down at their tables and ate, played cards, had coffee and other beverages as well. I’ve admired their calves and cows while driving by. I’ve seen their big steer calves sell in the fall. I’ve been able to do this because we are friends and actual neighbors. I tell you this because I know these people WELL and I respect them as cattlemen and people.

Every consignor in this sale has a common goal, to raise bulls of the highest quality that are sound, functional, fertile, productive, low maintenance and that last! A very high goal of raising bulls that are developed slowly and not fed hard at all! I have listened to them all during herd tours about how important this is to them that the bulls they sell hit the ground running and breed year after year. The feedback I’ve heard from customers has been amazing. They have a strong focus on producing bulls for the commercial cattleman needs, but you can bet some breeders will be sourcing here as well.

Bar CL and 2K springs have a great cow herd and have been adding many truly impressive breeding pieces this past year. You’ll find red and Black cow and heifer bulls. Linus has done a great job of sourcing outcross genetics to give a little different offering that some pure-bred breeders should really study. Eagle Ridge has been in the Fullblood Purebred game for a long time. Danny is a gentleman among men, they seriously don’t make them any better than this guy. Both Danny and Dallas will both bring some bulls to this sale. I continually notice eagle ridge in many top pedigrees.. A true sale highlight will be the outstanding heifer calves that buyers will be fighting over to add into their cow herd. Ask Beechinors about the Eagle Ridge cows they’ve had. Selling for the first time in a sale is Willcooke. Brothers, Rocky and Dallas Williams have been selling bulls off the farm for a number of year now and have some great cattlemen as return customers. These bulls will turn some heads! They have a small but very productive herd that crank out some doozies every year. These bulls will arrive at your place in working clothes and get right after it.

• $100 off of your bull if taken home sale day

• All bulls are backed by the seller and guaranteed to be satisfactory breeders as per the Canadian Simmental Association Bylaws

• All bulls 12 months of age will be semen tested, palpated and scrotal measurement taken by an accredited vetrinarian. Information will be available sale day.

• All bulls returning to sellers’ farms MUST be insured. Bulls can be kept at the consignors farms at no cost until April 1, 2023. Delivery will be arranged as soon as it’s mutually agreed upon by the seller and purchaser. Bulls will be delivered free of charge within 300km of Sundre. Delivery beyond will be arranged at cost.

WELCOME FROM BAR CL LIVESTOCK

We are very excited to present to you our 2022 bulls. We are looking forward to the new sale at Timber River Station, and hope to see local farmers as well as those of you who are driving a few hours to come see what we have to offer. We have two, 2 year olds bulls and 19 yearlings to offer this year! Bar CL Livestock is located 20 minutes south east of Sundre, and 1 mile west off of highway 22 on Bergen Road. We have been working on expanding our herd and are currently at around 150 head of simmental cattle. Bar CL and 2K Springs have partnered together on many cattle this year and they have 3 awesome bull calves up for sale this year. My daughters Carlee (13) and Jaycee (15) are very involved in 4-H and the Young Canadian Simmental Association. Jaycee has gotten more serious in her cattle showing and has been my main helper this past year with calves and around the farm and I finally convinced her to write the bull write ups! Carlee is also a big help around the farm and enjoys her sports like hockey, volleyball, softball and basketball. Shari is the Physiotherapist at the Sundre hospital. We purchased Kingsman’s dam from the Mader’s Ladies Night sale in 2020 as a recipient cow and that she was for the 2020 and 2021 years. She raised the other 420K bull calves dam in 2020. We decided we were going to see how her calf would look if we let her out with our herd bull Skors Discovery 113D and man we are happy we did! Kingsman has a great length of spine and excellent feet. He has that chrome that everyone loves and awesome EPD’s. If you are looking for a bull with calving ease and a bull that will add pounds at weaning then come take a look at this guy!

561K is out of Twin-Chief Cameo 506X who is one of our fondation Twin-Chief females. Kain is out of a $90 000 dollar powerhouse of a bull IPU Bentley 81F who adds that blaze face. This guy’s breeding is outcrossed. We had a few heifer calves out of Bentley as well and they turned out very impressive. All these calves have great frames, big hips, are wide throughout the top, they have deep bodies and lots of muscle. If you’re looking to add some muscle to your animals this is definitely a bull I recommend.

This guy too is out of one of our eldest cows Bar CL 8Y who has raised two $10 000 dollar bulls and overall has done a great job on her bull calves and heifer calves. Kasper is deep bodied with lots of length of spine and has a smooth wide top to him. It’s an ongoing struggle to sort out all the 34 tag numbers we have in our herd but in a way it’s a good thing. The 34 blood runs in our herd and the cattle from this family are amazing producers. Kaz’s sire is Scott Horatio 7H who we purchased from Scott Livestock and Cattle. The 2022 calves are his first on the ground. Scott is doing incredible things here at Bar CL Livestock! We purchased 149B from Meadow Acres Simmentals dispersal in 2021 and his half brother Rolex was the high seller. She is a broody black cow who caught our attention right away. Keeper of the flame is out of SVS Rancher 42H, a high quality animal from Sunny Valley Simmentals who they sold in 2021. 149K is a powerhouse. Keifer is out of Bar CL Forest 424F. Forest’s sire is Captain Scream 63D, a sire that has done incredible things for our herd as well as many others in the Simmental industry. Keifer is almost as dark red as you can get and along with many other physical attributes has lots of muscle. Keifer has a smooth top line and lots of depth. This is definitely a bull with solid genetics to back him up.

First off, we would like to welcome everyone to the 1st Annual Cowboy Trail Bull Sale! We would also like to thank Cody Haney and the Bohrson Marketing team, as well as the other consigners for the invitation to join this inaugural sale in Sundre Alberta. We are very excited to be able to bring our bulls to this sale to expand our already great customer base and from what we have seen this area is Simmental Country! A little bit about us, we have been farming Simmental cross cattle our entire lives and after our father passed, we realized our dream of raising Fullblood cattle. Along with good friend, Troy Cooke, we purchased our first cattle out of the Moose Creek Simmentals dispersal and a bull out of the great Natalie cow from Wa-na-la-pa Simmentals. Although Troy is not involved with Willcooke anymore, we remain great friends and appreciate everything he helped with to get our herd started. Over the past 14 years we have been striving to build top quality and low maintenance cattle. We are predominantly raising fullblood cattle with a couple purebreds mixed in and have been selling our bulls to local producers via private treaty. Having a strong bull calf crop last year has allowed us to keep our regular customers supplied while being able to provide to this new sale, with in our minds our top 3 bulls in the pen. Our bulls are born mostly in November and December giving them a little extra age, allowing us to feed them free choice fescue orchard grass hay along with 3-4 pounds a day of a 90% barley 10% pea grain mix to promote longevity in them.

We purchased Brute 11E as the lead off bull in the Bull Rush sale in 2019 in hopes of getting an all around bull to be able to breed anything and not sacrifice growth and I can tell you he did not disappoint. We bred our heifers and cows to him for 3 years and have been overly impressed with his progeny on both the bull and heifer end. He has many sons out working on other farms and have gotten positive feedback from them. An added bonus with Brute 11E is the udders he brings to his daughters are absolutely beautiful. This is the last year his Bull calves are available so don’t miss out on adding these great genetics to your herd.
