Welcome to the 21st Kuntz Simmental Farm, McIntosh Livestock, SAJ Simmentals Annual Bull Sale, March 17, 2020 at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. For over two decades, this sale has been selling high quality Simmental bulls to the livestock industry. Their success has been consumer demand from the commercial livestock producers to many purebred breeders who have chosen to select high value bulls. The offering consists of a powerful lineup of seventy yearling bulls. The red and the black purebreds are exciting, stylish and have muscle, with deep body shape… exactly what you want your steer calves to possess. The fullbloods are burly and powerful and a well-kept secret. We will never have enough fullbloods in this offering, as they are meat machines. This sale has grown into a source for superior sire prospects, whether you are looking for domestics or fullbloods. Each year, Blair and Stephanie go to Canadian Western Agribition to receive their award, People’s Choice Championship in the commercial barn, but it is not without effort for 365 days of the year. Their pen at Agribition captured the Supreme Champion Bulls and of course, the Champion Simmental Pen. Locally, at Edam Fall Fair they duplicated the task and at Lloydminster Stockade Roundup, the McIntoshs exhibited the Reserve Grand Simmental Bull in the open show…they all sell! Vortex is definitely one of the features in the bull pen this year. He is stout, soft sided, deep ribbed and hairy. Strong cow families run deep in his pedigree and it comes as no surprise to us that our two feature Fleckvieh bulls this year (Vortex and Gibson) are raised by full sisters, direct daughters of Miss Moses 03X. 27G offers some outcross genetics for us. I had been researching Brenair Park Hafke for several years and when I got the opportunity to purchase some semen on him, I jumped on it. Our Hafke calves are sound in their structure, with lots of length of body and are smooth made. They all possess that dark red color and plenty of pigmentation. Non-Diluter.

This is the only Dealer son we have on offer. He is moderate framed with a small birth weight, but he grew up quite nicely. Netflix is a bull that has always been very high on my list. He is packed full of meat and is exceptionally deep bodied. He has as much depth of flank and spring of rib as you can get. He is especially nice headed and has that herd bull presence to him. They don’t make bulls with much more depth of body and flank than Gainer 2G. This bull closely resembles his two-year old dam. When searching for an outcross red bull to AI some cows to, we came across STF Top Notch owned by Grant Lodge Farm. We bred him to a sampling of our top red cows and 4G is one of the resulting calves. His dam, 617D, is a maternal sister to Kuntz Sheriff 8A, as well as Kuntz Patriot 27C, who was a high seller of ours a few years ago to Rendezvous Farms. 4G reminds me a lot of Patriot when he was a yearling. For the fifth year in a row I find myself writing a footnote for yet another son of 313A, and by the looks of things, next year will make six consecutive years, as she has another smart looking bull calf on her again this year. 313A has been a model of consistency but I would really like to see her switch things up for a few years and give us a couple of daughters Double Bar D Law 44E - Sire of Lots 21 & 22 before she leaves us. 19G is a real attractive bull. These are the first set of calves out of our heifer bull, Double Bar D Law 444E. We have mainly used Law in the heifer pen and he has done an excellent job for us there. Welcome to the 21th Annual Kuntz/McIntosh/SAJ Bull Sale. We are excited to showcase this group of bulls. We feel this is a very complete group of bulls that we have brought to town, with a good mix of calving ease and some power bulls to add the pounds to your calf crop. Highlights include the Pen of Three black bulls we showcased in Edam, taking home People’s Choice and Champion European Pen of Three honours. The Pen of Three red bulls that we exhibited at Regina will also be there. This pen was crowned People’s Choice and Champion Simmental Pen, and went on to be Supreme Champion Pen of Three. These bulls will add to your replacement pen being out of strong maternal cow families. In hindsight we should have been picturing these guys in nicer weather but ended up working in the picture pen on the 10th of January on a lovely -40 day with the wind chill! We truly enjoy raising our family in this industry and spending time at cattle shows and sales, watching the excitement in the Simmental breed. We seem to get busier every year though, with things around the farm and activities with family and perhaps don’t get a chance to show our appreciation and visit with all our customers the way we would like to. So a special thanks to everyone that has supported us at the past bull and female sales over the years. Without all of you we wouldn’t be able to enjoy this great industry! We would like to invite all past, present and future customers to come on out to the sale and also make sure to stop by the farm to preview the bulls and the cow herd any time. The bulls will be on display indoors from March 15-17 at the Lloydminster Exhibition grounds in Lloydminster, SK. All McIntosh bulls will be double vaccinated with Fusogard to help in the prevention of foot rot. Again, this year we decided to do the Q Select Genotype testing, as few costumers have been inquiring about it. We offer free delivery in Alberta and Saskatchewan and cost shared to other destinations. Focus is a bull that we are pretty excited about. He has the potential to be a real star in the heifer pen but has also performed very well growth wise. He weaned off his first calf momma at an impressive 870 lbs. from a birth weight of 77 lbs. That’s a pretty great birth to weaning spread! The Matrix sons performed very well in the DNA tests for desirable carcass traits. Flex tested to display the most desirable traits in three out of four categories (CRH, IGF-2 and Leptin)! Classic was the bull we chose to lead off our show string in the early part of the fall and he did not disappoint, being named Reserve Champion Simmental Bull at the Lloydminster Stockade Round-Up. He simply typed in with our other pen bulls so perfectly that for Agribition he just had to go in with the pen bulls and we were very pleased with the result! Classic is just a standout in so many ways. He has the easy-going attitude of a champion and is really a pleasure to be around. He is so soft looking and mellow in his design and appearance. 35G is probably the darkest red bull I have to offer this year, but that is definitely not all he has to offer. You will notice the thickness and depth of hind quarter that all these 66Z sired cattle have. The dam to this bull might be a top three favorite cow of mine on the farm. He was the only bull calf I got last year from Guerrero but next year there will be a nice group. 10G was out of an up and coming first calf Diesel heifer that did well on her first go, unfortunately I lost her this fall to an accident. 10G ranks very high on calving ease (4%) and birth weight (10%) within the breed. Two years ago I partnered with Roach Ranching and purchased the high seller out of the Lockhart Valley Sale. Man Crush is a direct son of the $76,000 Charles bull. Crush has done everything I asked for. He consistently throws that cherry dark red color that is sought after, ample testicle size, loads of hair and good temperament. 44G is out of my best fulblood cow, who has mostly had daughters for me. She is currently being flushed now to get some more influence in my herd. 44G has a nice 95 lb. BW and a 920 lb. September weaning weight. Another good Crush son, coming out of a good, young Diesel daughter. Dark color, huge wrap around goggles and a good, young, solid bull. Davis is a bull I quite like. His full fleck dam has never missed with two daughters retained and her other bull was a good bull that sold to Purvis Trucking, Kerrobert. Her udder looks like she is a first calver. 42G would make a great group of replacements and it doesn’t hurt that Lot 66 & Keet’s Betty 54B (Dam) he ranks in the top 1% for milk. Bidding...

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder...no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Announcements...

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

All bulls sold are guaranteed breeders by the owners. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull.
