From the desk at T Bar Welcome to the Annual Kuntz Simmental Farm, McIntosh Livestock, SAJ Simmental Bull Sale, Tuesday March 15, 2022, at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. This year, this trio of dedicated breeders celebrate their 23rd annual sale… one of the oldest continuous running Simmental bull sales in Canada. The success of this event is largely due to a large repeat customer base and each breeder’s progressive breeding decisions. Many breeder bulls have been sourced at this event, then gone on to impact many herds and programs. The fullbloods offered each year have been a feature and 2022 is no different… powerful in muscle shape and design, complete with optimal birth weights to fit all types of programs. Kuntz and SAJ offer outstanding herd bull opportunities that you need to consider in your herd bull selections. This is the strongest, most consistent offering of purebreds both red and black they have ever presented. No doubt, with McIntosh Livestock continuing their winning ways at Canadian Western Agribition, their Supreme Champion black pen will have lots of friends. But let’s not overlook the many sire opportunities in the purebreds, red or black… many are homo polled, packed with value-added muscle, come with nice birth weights, tons of hair and testicle and are very eye appealing. In 2022, they have, quality, diversity, and selection… well worth the trip! To be honest, this past summer has been one that most of us would like to forget, but farmers and ranchers will adapt and persevere. Not only would I like to take this opportunity to invite you all to our annual bull sale in Lloydminster on March 16, but I would also like to thank all of our past customers for your support in our breeding program. Your continued support is what drives us to produce the best genetics possible to allow you to prosper in the cattle business. We take pride in our cattle and our goal is that you can also be proud of the cattle that you have purchased from us. We encourage you to come evaluate the bulls prior to the sale. Whether that is any day at the farm, where you can see the bulls and their mothers, or stop in at the Exhibition in Lloydminster where you can view them indoors on March 13, 14 and 15th. At the time of cataloging, I am waiting on Diluter gene test results for our fullblood bulls as well as polled tests on some of the polled bulls. Those results will be available prior to the sale. Kuntz Miss Moses 514C Full Fleckvieh. Here’s a bull that really grabs your attention. Jefferson is a big performance bull with exceptional length of spine. He is about as dark red as they come with huge goggles and very little white on his legs and belly. His mother is probably my favourite Fleckvieh cow. She is sound made with excellent feet, good udder, perfect colour, and a super disposition. Non Dilutor

Here’s a more moderate framed bull that I quite like. He is so straight in his lines with a square hip and a nicely laid in tail head. He has a sharp looking blaze faced head that is sure to grab your attention. Lawson is a solid, stout made bull with a ton of eye appeal, mothered by a strong uddered, heavy milking cow.

Jasper is a bull that closely resembles his sire, and is stamped exactly the way we had expected Gronk would. He is stout made with extra spring of rib and depth of flank. This guy is a big stout performance bull, just like his name suggests. He has plenty of length and depth of body with a big old hip on him. His mother was one of Ty’s 4-H heifers a few years back. Here is a long spined bull with a nice square hip. 29J possesses an excellent coat of hair that is as dark red as you’ll find. We purchased his mother from the Border City sale a couple years ago. We had high expectations for her that day and she has not disappointed. We have a few flush mates to 29J on the ground again this year as well as several sisters in the replacement pen. We would like to welcome you to the 23rd Annual Kuntz/McIntosh/SAJ Bull Sale. We are excited to showcase this group of bulls. We feel this is a very complete group of Bulls that we have brought to town, with a good mix of calving ease, highly maternal and power bulls to add value to your operation. Leading off the black bulls will be the pen of 3 brothers we exhibited at CWA in November along with the 3 other full sibs. Our red bulls were well represented and made lots of friends at the Edam Fall Fair with the three we showed there. It sure was great to be able to attend the fall shows again last year. Thanks to all the committees and volunteers that make these events happen!! We truly enjoy raising our family in this industry and spending time at cattle shows and sales watching the excitement in the Simmental breed. We seem to get busier every year though, with things around the farm and activities with family and perhaps don’t get a chance to show our appreciation and visit with all our customers the way we would like to. So a special thanks to everyone that has supported us at the past bull and female sales over the years. Without all of you we wouldn’t be able to enjoy this great industry! McIntosh bulls have been developed on a TMR ration this year. Our ration consists of brown oat silage, chopped hay, brown oats and a BULLSEYE Feed bull supplement. All bulls have been double vaccinated with Fusogard to help in the prevention of foot rot. Also bulls have been double vaccinated with Bovi-Shield Gold One Shot and Ultrabac 7/Somubac. Bulls have been treated with Ivermectin, two doses of Boss pour-on and also received Safeguard crumbles in the fall. We offer free delivery in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, cost shared to other destinations. We will work with you to get the bulls delivered as close to you as possible and in a time frame that works for both parties. Here is an impressive son of the Nashville cow we own together with Sky Track Ranch. Nash has become quite the herd sire producer, putting a top end bull through this sale every year since she was a first calver! Jim Beam is sired by McIntosh Formidable 26D, who was our high seller in 2017 going to Janzen Ranches. We utilize Formidable in our program through AI and really appreciate the type and quality of his offspring. Jim Beam carries a total outcross pedigree to most of the mainstream red genetics of today, and we feel that is one of the most interesting things about this bull. Tundra has been a pen favourite among visitors to the bull pen this winter so far. His picture represents him quite well. Summit is a very interesting bull that’s definitely worth a second look, both in the flesh and on paper. He carries a really nice balance between calving ease/birthweight and growth/performance. We have two Daredevil sons on offer here this year, and they are the real deal. There really just isn’t much we’d change on 51J. Just like his picture suggests, he is dark red, he is super hairy, he carries ample testicular development. Foot quality is great on the Daredevil sons and 51J exemplifies that. 51J traces back on the dams side to our Liner 56U cow that came from the Labatte program quite a few years back. When you get a mix of Daredevil, NGDB Wheatie, and Springcreek Liner 56U it is a perfect maternally oriented cocktail! You are going to want to keep all the daughters off this guy! If you like your bulls dark red then take a look here. It’s pretty rare to get one with this fantastic blood red colour. Daredevil was great for throwing perfect colour onto his calves and his daughters are doing the same. Speakeasy is fairly moderate in frame size but packs a punch of muscle expression and thickness throughout. He is a direct son of TNT Bootlegger who is a bull that we feel like we should have utilized more through the years because quality of his daughters in production is second to none. This is the only bull we have on offer this year that is sired by our R Plus Copperhead walking herdsire. He is also our youngest bull in the sale. We culled the bull pen very hard this year and despite being a bit younger, Anthem passed all of our criteria each time we culled some. He exhibits great growth and substance. We decided to sample the Bailey’s One of a Kind bull after seeing him as a mature bull at Agribition. He was champion bull there that year and struck us as the useable kind. We sold a One of a Kind heifer this past fall at Friday Night Lights to Crowe Bros. in Manitoba. They are all super dark red in color and the bulls have some frame and some grow to them. We acquired Lexi through an embryo purchase from 5 Corner Cattle Co. They were the original partners with Mader Ranches on the infamous Iron Sugar 7X cow. The Cobra/Iron Sugar cross is one of the most successful pedigrees in today’s simmental industry and has produced many high sellers and big time breeding stock. Leading off my group of bulls this year is a son of my new walking herdbull “Willow” from Hampton Simmentals. Rip is one of the most complete bulls I have raised to date. He has a herd bull presence and always seems to have that look at me pose about him. He is up headed, big ribbed, thick topped and stands on a correct foot. The terms of the sale are cash or cheque, payable at par at the sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made; no invoicing on buyers in attendance, unless previous arrangements have been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of disputes, the auctioneer’s decision will be final. Current exchange rates will be announced sale day. All monies are in Canadian funds.

All persons attend the sale at their own risk. The seller, facility owner and sale manager assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents that occur. It is understood that T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. is acting only as a medium between buyer and seller and is not responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations. Neither does T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties and any legal action that may in exceptional cases be taken must be between the buyer and the seller. T Bar C Cattle Co. (2013) Ltd. assumes no responsibility for any credit extended by the seller to the buyer. Bidding...

Each animal will sell to the highest bidder...no by-bidding will be permitted. Disputes - Bidding will be reopened between the parties involved in dispute. If no further bidding is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision on all disputes will be final.

Rights and Obligations...

The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

Announcements...

All announcements made from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay close attention to such disclosures.

Breeder’s Guarantee...

Phone, Mail, Wire Bids...

All bulls sold are guaranteed breeders by the owners. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull. Should any bull fail to be an unsatisfactory breeder, he will be replaced with a bull of equal value or a credit will be given toward the purchase of another bull. If you have a problem with your bull, please notify us immediately. Under no circumstances will the seller be liable for more than the purchase price of the animal.

Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone, mail or wire their bids and instructions to the sale managers, auctioneer or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale.

Delivery...

We will assist in arranging transportation wherever possible. Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. $100 rebate on bulls taken home sale day. Bulls must be insured by buyer.

Exception Guarantee...

In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void.

Insurance...

Will be available sale day. We strongly recommend that insurance is purchased for full value.

Certificate of Registration...

Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Simmental Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer for each animal after payment has been made.

Errors...

All announcements at sale time, written or oral, supercede any written material in the catalogue.

Pedigree Estimates...

Pedigree Estimates (PE) are created on the projected mating of the animal’s sire and dam based on averages of the two, creating estimated values that do not hold the same accuracy of actual EPDs issued from the association and should be used as such.

The sellers reserve the right to draw semen from any bull in the sale for in-herd use only. The collection will be at the purchaser’s convenience and the seller’s expense.
