Bock József barátságról, gasztronómiáról József Bock on Friendship and Gastronomy 2017 a barátság éve a Bock Pincénél, ennek jegyében került meghirdetésre az év első nagyobb rendezvénye, a Bock&Roll&Friends Party is, ahol a vendégborászat a tokaji illetőségű Áts Pincészet volt, de a gasztronómiai kínálat sem csak az Óbor Étterem finomságait tartalmazta. Sokan tudják, hogy a „nagyöreg” villányi borászok jó barátságot ápolnak, összefogásuknak köszönhető a borvidék önerőből történő fejlődése is az elmúlt 20 évben. Így van ez országos szinten is? És hogyan kapcsolódik mindehhez a gasztronómia?

Ezekről kérdeztük Bock Józsefet.

At the Bock Cellar, 2017 is the year of friendship, and it was in that vein that we announced our first largescale event, the Bock&Roll&Friends Party, featuring a guest winery from Tokaj, the Áts Winery, and where the delicacies did not exclusively comprise the delicacies of the Óbor Restaurant. Many people know that the “grand old” winemakers of Villány nurture good friendships; it is thanks to their solidarity that the wine region has developed from its own resources over the past 20 years. Is this also true at a national level? And how does gastronomy fit in here? We asked József Bock.

Villány tényleg annyira barátságos, összetartó hely, amilyennek az ország más pontjairól érkezőknek tűnik?

Villány kisváros, és mint minden ilyenben, közelebb állnak egymáshoz az emberek. Persze tudjuk jól, hogy a bor is közelebb hoz egymáshoz. Így itt tényleg minden adott ahhoz, hogy ne csak a borász a borásszal, de mindenki jó kapcsolatot ápoljon egymással, kortól függetlenül. Sok rendezvénnyel is büszkélkedhetünk, ami ezt tovább építi: például a Majális a focipályán, ahol kicsik és nagyok együtt szórakoznak, vagy a borainkat ünneplő Vörösborfesztivál, a Rozéfesztivál, és még sorolhatnám.

Is Villány truly such a friendly, harmonious place as it seems to people coming from other parts of the country?

Villány is a small township, and as with all such others, the people stand closer together. Of course we know that wine brings people together, too. So all the conditions exist for good relations to be nurtured, not only between winemaker and winemaker, but among everyone, irrespective of age. We are proud of our many events that build this further: for instance the May Day football match for young and old, or the festivals that celebrate our wines, the Red Wine Festival and the Rosé Festival, and I cold list more.

És mi a helyzet országos szinten a borászok között?

A hazai borászok, büszkén mondhatom, összetartó közösséget alkotnak, és ennek nemcsak az az oka, hogy gyakran fordulunk meg ugyanazokon a rendezvényeken.

Továbbmenve a barátságnál, fontos a szakmai összetartásunk is, amire nagyon jó példa a Pannon Bormíves Céh, ami immáron 38 tagot számlál.

And what’s the national situation among winemakers?

I can proudly say that Hungarian winemakers create a united community, and not merely because they regularly turn up at the same events. Beyond friendship, professional unity is also important, one excellent example of which is the Pannon Wine Guild, which at present has 38 members.

A Pannon Bormíves Céhet 1999-ben tíz nagy presztízsű családi pincészet alapította. Az alapító tagok célja nem csak a legmagasabb minőségű borok készítése, hanem az etikus magatartás megvalósítása is. Fontos feladatuknak tekintik a kimagasló minőségű magyar borok népszerűsítését, és teljes mértékben elkötelezettek a kulturált borfogyasztás meghonosítása iránt. Lényeges vonásuk az önkorlátozó rendszabályok önkéntes vállalása, és az etikus magatartással együtt járó szabad betekintés pincéjükbe, egész szakmai munkájukba, a szőlőtelepítéstől a bor készítéséig.

The Pannon Wine Guild was established in 1999 from ten highly prestigious family wineries. The aim of the founding members was not just to make wine of the highest quality, but also to create and maintain a high ethical standard. They consider it important that they propagate Hungarian wines of exceptional quality and they are fully dedicated to the spread of the intelligent consumption of wine.

They consider vital the voluntary acceptance of self-restricting regulations, and, accompanied by ethical behaviour, free access to their cellars and the whole work process of their profession, from the planting of vines to the making of wine.

Egyébként jellemző rád, hogy a barátságot összekapcsolod a szakmai munkával vagy az üzlettel? Üzletben nincs különbség barát és nem barát között.

Az üzleti hozzáállásomat apámtól örököltem, tőle tanultam azt is, hogy „a jó barátság alapja a pontos elszámolás”. Én eszerint élek, az üzlet az üzlet, az alku az alku. Egy barát mindig megkülönböztetett figyelmet kap nálam, de nem biztos, hogy jelentősebb kedvezményt is. Bár bevallottan hangulatember vagyok (nevet), de szókimondó, őszinte és toleráns is.

Is it otherwise characteristic of you to connect friendship with your professional work or business?

In business there is no distinction between friend and non-friend. My approach to business I inherited from my father, from whom I also learnt that “the basis of good friendship is fair accountancy”.That is how I live: business is business; a bargain’s a bargain. A friend always gets special attention, but it’s not certain they’ll get a significant reduction. Although I’m a self-confessed man of moods (laughs), I also speak my mind, I’m candid and tolerant.

It was friendship that led to national fame, for it was at the recommendation of your friends in the hotel industry that you began bottling your wines, so that Bock wines made their way to the catering industry.

Just like my attitude to business, I “inherited” these friends from my father, too.

What’s the history of the Óbor Restaurant?

In the course of travelling abroad I saw that where there was a cellar there was often food as well. It’s logical; this is the easiest way to introduce your wines. And so

Később, 2003-ban nyitottunk egy egyszerűbb éttermet, a palackozó mellé épült konyhával. Az akkori szakácsunk is nagyon lelkes kolléga volt, ő adott stílust az étteremnek – még a mostani Óbor Étterem provence-i, rusztikus hangulatát is ő álmodta meg. Már ekkor foglalkoztunk a gondolattal, hogy a növekvő igényeket egy konferenciateremmel és wellness-el is rendelkező szálláshely kialakításával szolgáljuk ki. 2012-ben sikerült megnyitnunk szállodánkat, amihez az étterem elnevezésére is szükség volt: az Óbor nevet feleségem, Valéria adta neki. A régi éttermünk stílusa is házias volt, de Nemesné Barbara chef asszonyunk érkezésekor is kifejezetten ezt kértük tőle: ha valaki leutazik idáig, kapjon házias, hagyományos ízeket, de mindenképp csúcsminőségben, és lakjon jól.

Otthon is eszerint étkezünk, finom ízeket fogyasztunk, bőséggel - így gondolkodunk mi a gasztronómiáról.

in 1996 we built a pension, the kitchen of which mainly produced one-course meals for the guests. Later, in 2003, we opened a simple restaurant with a kitchen built alongside the bottling unit. Our cook from those days was very enthusiastic, and gave the restaurant some style – it was he who dreamt up the Provencal, rustic atmosphere of today’s Óbor Restaurant.

At that time our thoughts were occupied with the idea of expanding into a conference hall and hotel with a wellness centre. In 2012 we succeeded in opening our hotel, so the restaurant required a name: it was my wife Valéria who gave it the name of Óbor (“old wine”).

Our old restaurant had anyway been homely, but with the arrival of our chef Mrs Barbara Nemes we specifically requested that if someone had travelled this far they should receive homemade, traditional food, but always of the most excellent quality and a good helping of it.

That’s also how we eat at home: we consume great flavours in good quantity – that’s our idea of gastronomy.

Ily módon alakult ki az Óbor Étterem mostani híres, prémium-házias stílusa? Mi alapján áll össze egy-egy szezon étlapja?

Igen, ehhez tartjuk magunkat azóta is.

Vannak ételek, vendégeink kedvencei, olyan ikonikus ízeink, melyek mindig étlapon lesznek: ilyen a töltöttkáposzta, a vadpörkölt, vagy a libamáj kis piros lábasban.

Emellett szabad kezet adunk a konyhának az ötletelésben, mindig nyitottak vagyunk az újdonságokra, modern technikákra is. Az étlapváltások esetén a chef-ektől kapott ételeket pedig már nem mi, hanem a gyerekek kóstolják végig: ma már Valér és Patrícia döntenek az étterem új ízeiről.

Is that how the now famous premiumhomely style of the Óbor Restaurant came about? How does a seasonal menu get put together?

Yes, we’ve kept to this ever since. There are some meals, our guests’ favourites, the flavours of which are so iconic that they will always be on our menu: the stuffed cabbage, the wild boar pörkölt, and the goose liver in the miniature red pan. At the same time we give free creative rein to the kitchen; we’re always open to new ideas, as we are to modern techniques.

When it comes to changes on the menu it is not we who taste the food prepared by our chefs but our children: today, Valér and Patrícia make the decisions regarding the restaurant’s new flavours.

“The early bird catches the worm”, goes the saying, which gains true meaning at the Hotel Ermitage. The hotel’s guests know this only too well, rising in the morning after a lengthy convivial evening or a successful event, preferring to sacrifice their sleep rather than miss out on the Bock ham, home-made stifolder (salami) or any other homemade delicacy awaiting them at the buffet breakfast table.

Let’s get to know the hotel breakfast staff!

Mehringer Rita 2002 ősze óta dolgozik a Bock Pincénél, ahogyan mondja, „pont az „október feszt” előtt jöttem, belecsöppentem rendesen”. Rita felszolgálóként kezdte, szinte még a hőskorszakban, amikor még csupán nyolc szobából állt a Hotel Ermitage elődje, a Bock Panzió. Amikor fia, Máté elkezdte az iskolát, kért egy kis könnyítést, azóta erősíti a reggeliztetők csapatát. Szereti a munkáját, különösen azt, hogy „a városi emberek nagyon hálásak a házi sonkáért, kolbászért, stifolderért, kérdezgetik is, hol lehet ilyen finomságokat kapni. A reggelinél jól esik a vendégeknek egy-két kedves szó, és nagy öröm mindig friss gyümölcsöt, zöldséget és pékárut eléjük tenni. A vendégeknek tetszik, hogy szinte minden itt készül, házi dolgokat tudnak fogyasztani (sonka, stifolder, kolbász, disznósajt, lekvárok, csokis kuglóf). A sárgabarack lekvárra megjegyzik általában: „Olyan, mint amilyet anyukám (nagymamám) csinál!” Jó hallani az ilyen visszajelzéseket. A kollégákkal jól kiegészítik egymást, a szállodában „soha nem unalmas a munka, mindig van pörgés”. A hajtás után hetente többször is jógával kapcsolódik ki, „hiszen ennek már az elnevezésében benne van, hogy jó”, illetve kijár fia focimeccseire.

Rita Mehringer Rita’s been working at the Bock Winery since autumn 2002: “I arrived just before the “Octoberfest”, and got thrown in at the deep end.” Rita began as a waitress in the early days, when the predecessor to Hotel Ermitage, the Bock Panzió, had only eight rooms. When her son Máté started school she asked for a little leeway, since when she’s joined the breakfast gang. She likes her work, especially because “the city people really appreciate the home-made ham, the sausage and the stifolder: they ask us where they can buy this fine food. At breakfast the guests enjoy a friendly word or two, and it’s always a joy to put fresh fruits, vegetables and pastry in front of them. They really like the fact that practically everything is produced here and that they can eat home-made food (ham, stifolder, brawn, jam, chocolate pound cake). Of the apricot jam the comment is generally, “It’s just like what my (grand)mother makes!”

It’s good to hear comments like that.” She works well with the other staff members, “there’s never a dull moment in the hotel, there’s always a buzz.” After the rush she often relaxes with some yoga, or goes to watch her son play football.

Bíró Lajosné, Mónika Már 13 éve erősíti a Bock Pince csapatát Mónika, aki eleinte a konyhában dolgozott, majd nyolc éve kezdett reggeliztetni.

Kedvence – ahogyan a vendégeknek is – a házi sonka és a szalámik. „Mindent szeretek a munkámban, minden nap szeretek bejönni dolgozni” – állítja. Azt is imádja, hogy a vendégek gyakran megdicsérik a lekvárokat és a kuglófot. Azt már viszont kevesen tudják, hogy ezeket mind ő készíti. Minden helyben sül, készül, a legutóbbi „innovációja”, az almalekvár is zajos sikert aratott. A reggeliztetés után a konyhában a desszerteket készíti el, s bár „nem vagyok nagyon édesszájú, de a csokifelfújtat nagyon szeretem. Megpróbáltuk levenni az étlapról, de a vendégek nem engedik, mert nekik is nagyon ízlik”. A legjobban a desszertek kialakításának kreatív folyamatát élvezi Nemesné Barbarával. S ha mindebbe belefárad, jöhet egy pohár laza Bock-rozé, majd egy izgalmas horgászat a barátokkal, „főleg pontyra”.

Mrs Lajos Bíró - Mónika Mónika has been a pillar of the Bock team for thirteen years, first working in the kitchen and then, eight years ago, preparing breakfasts.

Her favourites – and the guests’, too – are the homemade ham and the salamis.

“I like everything about my work,” she affirms. And she likes it when the guests compliment the jams and the pound cake. Not many of them know that it is she who made them! Everything is cooked and prepared on the premises; her latest innovation, the apple jam, has received loud applause. After having prepared breakfast she makes the desserts in the kitchen, and while “I don’t have a very sweet tooth, I do love my chocolate mousse. They tried to take it off the menu, but the guests wouldn’t have it, they liked it so much themselves.” What she likes best is the creative process of preparing desserts with Mrs Barbara Nemes. And when all this has tired her out, then a glass of light Bock rosé soon picks her up, along with some exciting angling with her friends: “mainly carp”.

Fura módon fentiektől csak a házigazda reggeli rutinja tér el: mit mond a nap legfontosabb étkezéséről Bock József? „Minden reggel tartok egy szeánszt: iszom egy nagyobb korty szőlőmagolajat, és egy teáskanál szőlőmaglisztet valamint ugyanennyi szőlőhéjlisztet összekeverek egy citrom levével, és azt felöntöm 2 deciliter vízzel. Ezt a „limonádét” iszom meg jóízűen.” Bock József minden áldott reggel, a felkelés után szűk fertályórával fogyasztja el a fenti italt.

Természetesen, ha éppen külföldön vagy szállodában tartózkodik, akkor „rendesen” reggelizik, de Villányban ez a rutin. A limonádé szürcsölgetése közben jut ideje arra is, hogy átnézze a napilapokat.

E szokás kialakulásáról így vall: „Borászokkal előfordul, hogy nap közben és esténként meg-megkóstolják a bort, így fontos, hogy lúgosítsuk a szervezetet, amihez – bár savas ízű – a citromlé ideális. Az olajnak rendkívül jók az élettani hatásai, úgyhogy az is fontos. 2010 óta fogyasztok szőlőmaglisztet is, magas antioxidáns tartalma nagyon fontos a szervezetnek. A magam hektikus, stresszes életét valószínűleg a szőlőmag áldásos hatása miatt is viselem ilyen jól.” Bock József fegyelmezetten tartja magát e szokásához. Ha megkérdezzük tőle, nem hiányzik-e neki a gabona az olaj mellé, így válaszol: „Nem vacakolok azzal, hogy kenyeret keressek, a szervezetem jól bírja így is.”

Strangely enough, only the boss’s breakfast routine diverges from the above: what does József Bock have to say about the day’s most important meal?

“I hold a séance every morning: I take a large sip of grape-seed oil, and mix a teaspoonful of grape-seed flour and the same amount of grapeskin flour with lemon juice, and top it up with 2 decilitres of water. I drink this “lemonade” with gusto. József Bock takes this drink every single day, shortly after rising. Naturally, if he happens to be abroad or in a hotel, then he has a “proper” breakfast, but in Villány this is his routine. While he’s sipping his lemonade he also finds time to browse through the daily papers.

On how the habit came about, he confesses: “Winemakers often taste the wine during the day and in the evening, and so it’s important to alkalize the system, for which, though acidic in taste, lemon juice is ideal. The oil has an extraordinarily beneficial biological effect, which is important. Since 2010 I’ve also been taking grape-seed flour, the high antioxidant content of which is also very important for the body. It is probably thanks to the beneficial effect of grape-seed that I am able to bear up to my hectic, stressful life-style so well.” József Bock sticks to this habit with self-discipline. Ask him if he doesn’t miss the cereal next to the oil, and he’ll say, “I don’t waste time hunting down bread; my system can take it just as well like this.”

Meggyőződése, hogy 50 fölött nagyon fontos a vitaminok és a nyomelemek bevitele a szervezetbe. Korábban szőlőlét is tett a limonádéba, de rájött, hogy nem szükséges reggelente plusz cukorral is megterhelnie a szervezetét. Állítja: „olyan édes az életem, hogy még a kávéba sem teszek cukrot”. Ki tudja, egy napon talán a Bock Óbor Étterem étlapjára is felkerül „Józsi bácsi reggelije”…

He is convinced that above the age of 50 the intake of vitamins and minerals is very important. Earlier he put grape juice into his lemonade, but realised that it was unnecessary to load the body with extra sugar every morning. He claims, “My life is so sweet that I don’t even put sugar in my coffee.” Who knows? One day the Bock Óbor Restaurant may even feature “Uncle Józsi’s Breakfast” on its menu…

Dűlőről-dűlőre: tematikus túra a Bock-dűlőkön From slope to slope: a thematic tour of the Bock wine „dűlő”-s Soha eddig nem lehetett még ennyire mély betekintést nyerni a Bock Pince életébe. A Pince új szolgáltatása keretében foglalható terepjárós kirándulás során a túrázóknak lehetősége nyílik bejárni a Villányi borvidék legendás dűlőit, ahol megkóstolják az ott termett borokat és látogatást tehetnek a nyilvánosság elől elzárt ódon családi pincében is. Villányba visszatérve megkóstolhatják az érlelődő borokat már a hordóban, majd a családi pincéből hozott palackok nyitását követően meggyőződhetnek arról, hogy a Bock borok évtizedes palackérlelés után is állják a sarat – mindezt egy páratlan ebéd kíséretében.

A program exkluzivitását is mutatja, hogy csak bizonyos napokon, 4-8 fős társaságok számára rendelhető, foglalást követően.

Never before has it been possible to take such a deep look into the life of the Bock Cellar. In the course of the Cellar’s newest attraction, groups will be able to tour by jeep through the Villány wine region’s legendary wine slopes, where they can taste the wines in situ and visit the old family cellar, normally closed to the public. Returning to Villány they can taste the maturing wines straight from the barrel and then, following the opening of the bottles brought from the family cellar, they can persuade themselves that Bock wines can hold their own even after a decade maturing in the bottle – all this in the company of an exclusive lunch. The exclusiveness of the event is borne out by the fact that it only takes place on certain days in groups of 4-8, following a reservation.

About the wine slopes

A Göntér-dűlő Az alacsony fekvésű, kis dombbal büszkélkedő Göntérdűlőben hagyományosan fehérszőlőt termeltek, az előző rendszerben például pezsgő alapanyagnak szánt hárslevelűt. E fajta Bock József egyik személyes kedvence, így érthető, ha itteni négyhektáros ültetvényének ez a fő képviselője. Szerencsés csillagállás – és kedvező klimatikus viszonyok – esetén késői szüretelésű természetes édesbort is készít innen. A Göntér-dűlőben képes úgy beérni a fajta, hogy szinte már a tőkén lebomlik benne az almasav – túránk során bemutatjuk, hogy nemcsak Tokaj-Hegyalján produkál szép bort a hárslevelű!

The Göntér slope Traditionally, the low-lying, hillocky Göntér-dűlő produced white grapes, for instance in the previous regime this is where the basic ingredient for sparkling wine, hárslevelű, was grown. This is one of József Bock’s personal favourite varieties, so it’s understandable that it dominates the four hectares here. In the event of a fortunate conjunction of the stars – and favourable climatic conditions – a sweet, lateharvested wine can be made from it. On the Göntér-dűlő the variety is capable of ripening in such a way that the acids practically disappear on the vine – during the tour we will demonstrate that it is not only in Tokaj that lovely hárslevelű wines can be made! slope. A Bocor-dűlő Kirándulásunk második állomása a Fekete-hegy és a Tenkes-hegy között meghúzódó Bocor-dűlő. A termőhely legmelegebb, „katlan” részén van Bock József területe, amelynek talaja a Jammertál agyagos, foltokban mészköves terroirját idézi. A bocor jelentése „bokros”, és valóban, sok errefelé a galagonya, és a hozzá hasonló növényzet. A mintegy négyhektáros ültetvény az itt termelt, számtalan nagydíjjal elismert syrah fajtával írta be magát a borszeretők szívébe. Erről minden résztvevő meggyőződhet a túra során: egy pohár kiváló syrah-val fogunk a galagonyák között is nagyszerű bort adó tőkék egészségére koccintatni.

The Bocor slope The second stop on our excursion is Bocor-dűlő, which stretches between the hills of Fekete-hegy and Tenkeshegy. József Bock’s land lies in the hottest part of this “cauldron”, the soil of which is similar to the clay with patches of lime terroir of the Jammertal. Bocor means “bushy”, and indeed there’s certainly plenty of blackthorn and similar vegetation around here. The syrah grown on this approximately four-hectare plantation has been awarded numerous prizes and found a way into the winelovers’ hearts. Of this each participant will be persuaded as we raise a glass among the blackthorn bushes in honour of the vines producing the excellent syrah.

Chock-a-Block Choc Slice with “Pascucci” GRANITA, SERVES 5: 100g hazelnut paste (ready-made, also known as praliné) 25g dark chocolate 50g cornflakes 1,5 dl cream 0,7 dl milk 200g chocolate, 54% cocoa content 1 gelatine sheet 1 egg 1,5 dl pre-made espresso coffee 2 dl water

To make the „dough”, melt together the hazelnut and chocolate and stir in the finely broken cornflakes.

For the cream, soak the gelatine in cold water and melt the chocolate over steam. Meanwhile, bring the milk and cream to the boil, then with quick movements mix in the beaten egg, finally adding the gelatine and the chocolate.

Line a small square baking tin or spring form cake tin with the „dough” and pour over the cream. Leave to solidify in the fridge, after which it can be cut into slices.

For the granita, mix the espresso coffee with the water and sugar and freeze in a wide container. Once frozen, break up and serve the coffee slush alongside the dessert in a separate bowl.

A kényes fajtából a Bock Birtokon mindössze 1 hektár körüli mennyiség található, ebből azonban két remek tétel is született az évjáratban: egy szelekció és egy siller. Ezek gazdagítják most a pince dűlőválogatásokból álló termékvonalát, melynek újonnan megjelenő tagjai az idei évtől új, egységes címke design-t kapnak. This light, quaffable siller, light cherry-red in appearance, is made from Kadarka grapes. In its flavour the smack of red morello cherries dominates, paired with a pleasant acidity. In its smell can be found aromas reminiscent spices and sour cherries. Recommended to be consumed at 8-10 C°.

It’s enjoyable to work with Bock wines not only because of their fantastic flavour and bouquet, and because the variedness of wine provides a wealth of opportunity for choice, but also because the name of Bock has a good ring to it among the guests, admit several of the winery’s gastronomic partners. We asked in three Budapest restaurants why they had chosen Bock wines for their current selection.

But the connection goes much further back than that, and both of the restaurant’s owners are connected by more than one thread to the winery: as an employee of the Hungarian Wine Society Zoltán Kalocsai was working with Bock wines as long ago as the early 2000s, while thanks to his Bock Bisztró past Tamás Horváth knows the Villány cellar’s selection inside out.

“There are Bock wines which are impossible to ignore in the market and the public is forever on the hunt for them. We prefer to stock the rarer, lesser-known items: for instance, we always have the Villányi Franc Selection from Fekete-hegy and the Cabernet Sauvignon Selection from the Jammertal,” tells Zoltán Kalocsai. These are the two Bock wines that both we ourselves and our guests like the most. They are always four to five years old, in a mature condition, which our foreign guests appreciate greatly, for they specifically seek out mature red wines. We particularly recommend these two outstanding cabernets as an accompaniment to our meals in the autumn and winter periods. Besides these there are always seasonal items from the cellar, always from the premium segment:Magnifico, Capella, or an elegant kadarka.”

In Pestszentimre, Joe Bácsi, acknowledged to be the best restaurant of the green belt, has had Bock wines on the menu for a good decade and a half. The management of the restaurant enjoy the wines of the renowned Villány winery to such an extent they decided that, in addition to the four Bock wines regularly featured on the wine list, they would prepare their own blend in cooperation with the Cellar which, under its own label, would be offered to guests as the house wine. “In April 2016 the owners and management descended together on Villány and, with the aid of Bock employee Robi Tamás, assembled a blended red whose proportions pleased us

A Bock Pincétől a Sauvignon Blanc, a Porta Géza, a Bock Cuvée és a Bock Villányi Franc folyamatosan ott van a Joe Bácsi borlapján. A népszerűségi listát a Porta Géza vezeti, fej-fej mellett a Villányi Franc-nal, nyáron pedig a Sauvignon Blanc-ból is sok fogy jól behűtve. „Van az étlapunkon egy libamájas, vargányás, hagymás raguval készült steak, amihez kimondottan a Franc-t szoktuk ajánlani – mondja a házigazda. – Ez mindenkinek nagyon bejön, talán a libamáj édessége, talán az étel fűszerezése miatt. De nemcsak azért szeretünk ezekkel a borokkal dolgozni, mert nagyon jó ízek, illatok jellemzik őket, hanem azért is, mert a Bock név széles körben ismert, jól cseng, ráadásul a pincénél sokféle bor készül, különböző árkategóriákban. Nálunk pedig, a peremkerületben, a borok minősége mellett az ár is fontos, így minden rétegnek tudunk valami jót kínálni.”

A Bock Pince és a Joe Bácsi csapata igencsak összemelegedett az elmúlt másfél évtized során. A budapesti étterem stábja évente kétszer-háromszor biztosan elutazik Villányba, az október-novemberi pincelátogatás már tradíció náluk. De idén tavasszal Lyonba is együtt repültek a Bocuse d’Or döntőjére. „Szívesen megyünk a különböző eseményekre is, legutóbb áprilisban vettünk részt azon a borvacsorán, ahol Józsi bácsi a kedvenc óborait mutatta be egy fantasztikus menüsor kíséretében. Kár is ezt ragozni, egyszerűen nagyon szeretjük a pincét, nagyon szeretjük Villányt!”

the best,” recounts Tamás Lőrincz, owner of Joe Bácsi.

“Then the wine was matured in barrels for six months, at the end of November it was bottled and since then we have been selling it regularly at our restaurant.

We named it NK 49, as our restaurant’s address is 49, Nagykörösi Street. It soon became popular among our guests, and our regulars get a bottle as a present on their birthdays. We’re very fond of it ourselves, and I’m sure that when it runs out we’ll be making a new one.”

Joe Bácsi’s wine list regularly features four wines from the Bock Cellar: Sauvignon Blanc, Porta Géza, Bock Cuvée and Bock Villányi Franc. In popularity Porta Géza heads the running head to head with the Villányi Franc, while a great deal of chilled Sauvignon Blanc is consumed in the summer. “Our menu includes a steak prepared in a goose-liver, bolete, onion sauce, to which we expressly recommend the Franc,” says the host. “It’s a great success with everyone, possibly because of the sweetness of the goose liver, or maybe due to the seasoning. But we don’t only like working with these wines because they are characterised by fine flavour and aromas, but because the name of Bock is widespread, it has a good ring, and moreover the Cellar produces a large number of wines of a wide price range. For us, out on the outskirts, the price is important as well as the quality, so that we can offer something for everyone.”

The Bock Cellar and the Joe Bácsi team have become extremely cordial over the past 15 years. The restaurant staff go down to Villány twice or three times every year, and their October-November trip to the Cellar has become a tradition. But this year in the spring they flew together to Lyon to the finals of the Bocuse d’Or. “And we enjoy going to the various events, most recently the wine supper where Bock Józsi bácsi introduced his old wines to the accompaniment of a fantastic menu.

There’s no need to say more: we simply love the Cellar, and we love Villány!”

Biarritz Restaurant & Café: „Vadakhoz vagy steakhez Bock Cuvée-t” A budapesti Biarritz Restaurant & Café több mint húsz éve fogadja a vendégeket a Parlament és a Duna közelében álló párizsias bérházak egyikében. Biarritz Restaurant & Café: “Bock Cuvee for game and steak!”

For more than twenty years Budapest’s Biarritz Restaurant & Café has been receiving guests in one of the Parisian tenement buildings in the vicinity of the Parliament and the Danube. The Biarritz, which according to the Gault&Millau guide is among Hungary’s top twenty restaurants, has had Bock wines on its wine list since it opened. “At the moment we recommend three Bock wines as accompaniments to our cuisine of French, Mediterranean and Hungarian gastronomic cultures: for aperitifs, the lightly carbonated Fanni rosé, and for heavier meals, game and steak the fuller-bodied Bock Syrah and Bock Cuvée,”said restaurant owner Gyula Berkes. “We have been working together for so long that the relationship between our restaurant and the winery extend far beyond than mere cooperation between two businesses: we are talking about personal friendship here, sealed three or four times annually by a visit to the Villány cellar,” added the restaurateur.

But how has this partnership matured through the long years, what characterizes the METRO selection and which of the Bock wines are most popular? We asked Zoltán Rutka, manager of METRO’s wine division.

– Mindenekelőtt fontos kiemelni, hogy a vásárlók igényeinek megfelelően a METRO választékának többségét a magyar borok alkotják: az ismert termelők mellett azonban lehetőséget biztosítunk új, feltörekvő – akár kisebb –pincészeteknek is a bemutatkozásra.

– First of all it is important to stress that the majority of wines stocked by METRO are Hungarian, in line with customer demand: nevertheless, alongside the known producers we guarantee space for aspiring wineries – some of them quite small.

A Bock Pincével a kezdetektől fogva együtt működik az áruházlánc, ám ez nem csak a boraik forgalmazását jelenti, ugyanis a Bock Óbor Étterem beszállítói is vagyunk egyben.

The chain store has cooperated with the Bock Winery since the earliest days, but we don’t only sell their wine; we are a supplier of the Bock Óbor Restaurant too.

– Pillanatnyilag hányféle Bock bor szerepel a kínálatukban? És mi alapján választották ki éppen ezeket?

– Jelenleg 17 féle bor kapható nálunk a pincészettől, ebből a Ventaus cuvée kizárólag a METRO áruházakban vásárolható meg. A kínálat összeállításánál elsősorban a vendéglátás és a profi vevők igényeit tartjuk szem előtt, ugyanakkor arra törekszünk, hogy valamennyi vásárlónk megtalálja nálunk a számára megfelelő típusú és árkategóriájú bort.

– A Bock Pincészetről milyen visszajelzések érkeznek a vásárlóiktól?

– Nem csak nekünk, de a vevőinknek is kedvező véleményük van a pincészetről. A Bockot a megbízható minőséget nyújtó, magasabb árszegmensbe tartozó borászatok közé sorolják. A minőségi vendéglátásban szinte mindenhol jelen vannak a pincészet borai, amelyek népszerűségük és keresettségük miatt valamennyi áruházunkban teljes szortimenttel szerepelnek. Egyébként nálunk az amúgy is népszerű villányi vörösborok a legkelendőbbek, de emellett az elmúlt években a rozék kedveltsége is egyre nő.

– Milyen áruházon kívüli eszközei vannak a METRO-nak a borkínálat népszerűsítésére?

– Számos eszközünk van: ilyen például a Borkatalógus vagy a METRO Hírlevél. Borszakértőink mellett értékesítési csapatunk vevőlátogatásai, illetve a különböző rendezvényeken való részvétel (Sirha kiállítás, Debreceni Bor- és Jazznapok, Vidor fesztivál, stb.) is hozzájárulnak ahhoz, hogy minél többen megismerkedjenek a borokkal.

– Mi a siker kulcsa – hogyan ért be „ez a bor”?

– A sikeres együttműködés alapját a valódi igényeket szem előtt tartó, az észrevételekre, javaslatokra nyitott, értő fülek, és a személyesség erejét sem nélkülöző kapcsolat adja. Azaz a legtöbb termelőnél arra törekszünk, hogy a kommunikációs eszközök és lehetőségek teljes tárházát ki- és felhasználjuk.

Igazán büszkék vagyunk arra, hogy ez évek óta remekül működik a Bock Pincészettel is.

– At present how many Bock wines do you offer? And why exactly these?

– At the moment we retail 17 of the Cellar’s wines, out of which the Venatus cuvee is exclusive to METRO. In putting together the selection we primarily have in mind the catering industry and professional buyers, but we do our best to ensure that all of our customers will find a variety and price of wine to suit them.

– What reaction do you get from shoppers regarding the Bock Winery?

– Not only we ourselves but our customers as well have a favourable opinion of the winery. Bock can be placed among the winemakers in the higher price range that can be relied for their quality. The winery’s wines are present practically everywhere in the catering industry, which is why you can find the full range in all of our stores. They are the most sought after among the anyhow popular Villány red wines, but in recent years the rosés have also been growing in popularity.

– Outside the store, what means do you have to popularise METRO’s wine selection?

– Several. For instance, there is our wine catalogue and the METRO newsletter. Alongside our sommeliers’ visits by our sales team and participation at various events (the Sirha Exhibition, the Debrecen Wine and Jazz Days, the Vidor Festival etc.) all contribute to a better acquaintance with wines.

– What is the key to success? How did this “wine” reach maturity?

– The bases of success are to keep track of real demands, for one’s ears to be open to observations and recommendations, and the personal contact. That is, with the majority of producers we endeavour to apply the full gamut of communicative tools and opportunities. We are truly proud that this has worked so successfully with the Bock Winery for so many years.

A borkészítés is egyfajta művészet. Ebből kiindulva kicsit közelebb hozzuk olvasóinkhoz a képzőművészeteket, jelen lapszámunkban a festészetre koncentrálva.

Kovács Ferenc festőművész a Villányi borvidéken, Siklóson él és alkot, kérdeztük tehát munkásságáról, a térséghez fűződő viszonyáról, valamint bor és képzőművészet kapcsolatáról.

Winemaking in itself can be an art form. Taking this as a starting point, we will bring our readers a little closer to the arts, in the present issue concentrating on fine art.

The artist Ferenc Kovács lives and creates in Siklós, within the Villány Wine Region; we asked him about his work and how it links with the area, as well as the relationship between the visual arts and wine.

Mit jelent Önnek szülőföldje, a Dél-baranyai táj? Úgy gondolom a legtöbb ember számára sokat jelent az a hely, ahol felnő. Gyermekkorának meghatározója, hová születik, hiszen itt alakulnak ki az első impulzusok: a kirándulások során megismert mediterrán táj, a mediterrán flóra, a vár, a hegy. A hóvirágzástól kezdve a szüretig minden ideköt. Életem során elkerültem Budapestre, de visszajöttem, mert úgy éreztem, ezt a nyugalmat más táj nem tudja megadni számomra.

What does Southern Baranya, the land of your birth, mean to you?

I think the place a person grows up means a lot to them. One’s birthplace is a defining factor in one’s childhood, for here the first impulses are formed: the Mediterranean landscape, flora, the castle and the hills that one gets to know during excursions.

From the first snowdrop to the wine harvest, everything binds me here.

Life took me to Budapest, but I returned because I felt that for me no other place could provide my peace of mind.

Gyakori visszatérő elem festészetében a keresztre feszített Krisztus. Mennyire vallási-mitológiai indíttatásból, és mennyire pusztán azért, mert ez is egyik gyakori eleme a baranyai vidéki tájképnek?

Mind a kettő. Az út mentén, a vár alatt, a hegyen és még számtalan helyen megjelennek a keresztek Baranya megyében. A személyes indíttatása a dolognak azonban az, hogy kisgyermekként a szobámban volt Munkácsy Mihály Golgota című festménye, és azt kezdtem el másolni. Későbbiekben a benne rejlő feszültség tette vonzóvá számomra, mint a 2000 éves jelkép, mely a falusi tájban vagy a templom környezetében vagy az út szélén áll. A keresztre feszített, hol lírai nonfiguráció, hol figurativításhoz erősebben kötődő kompozícióban Isten és az ember fiaként jelenik meg a képeimen. Krisztus alakját mindig misztikum és lebegés, látomás és a kollektív emlékezet hatja át. A hit. Van bibliai vonatkozása is, valahol a szenvedő test egy feltámadást jelképez. Több festő is élete során csak egy témát dolgozott fel remélve azt, hogy egyszer a tökéletességet fogja megalkotni. Az ember állandóan körbejárja a gondolatot és ezen gondolatok állandóan kiegészítésre várnak. Így van ez a képzőművészet, alkotómunkám területén is.

A frequently recurring motif in your painting is Christ upon the Cross. To what extent is this inspired by religion and mythology, and how much because it is a frequent feature of the Baranya landscape?

Both. In Baranya County you can find crosses; on the roadside, below the castle, in the hills and innumerable other places. However, a personal inspiration is that Mihály Munkácsy’s painting, Golgotha, hung in my nursery, and I began to copy it. Later the tension lying within it attracted me to it; a two-thousand year-old symbol standing in the village or in the vicinity of the church or at the roadside.

In my pictures, the Son of God and Man appear sometimes in lyrical non-figuration, sometimes more strongly figuratively. The figure of Christ is always mystique, wafting, transpiercing as a vision or collective memory.

Belief. There is a Biblical reference, too; somewhere the suffering body symbolizes a resurrection. Many artists have spent their entire lives working on one subject in the hope that one day they will create something perfect.

Man is constantly encircled by such thoughts, which are forever awaiting supplementation. That’s what this art is like, as is my creative work.

In the old days every family living in the Villány Wine Region had their own little cellar, and so did we. We made our own wine and from 1968 bottled it, too. Live here, and

Van, akit egy szép bor alkotásra ihlet, és van, akinek az alkotói-baráti kötődések erősítésében fontos. Milyen szerepet játszik az Ön, mint festőművész életben?

A közös borfogyasztás évek óta okot ad találkozóink megszervezésére. Ennek a miliőjét, hangulatát csak egy ilyen közeg tudja biztosítani, hiszen közelebb hozza az embereket. A bor és a szőlő a kezdetek óta jelen van a kultúrában: a római kultúrában számtalanszor láttuk megelevenedni a szőlőt. A borban is megjelenik a művészet a címke tervezésétől a palack kivitelezéséig. A bor és a művészet a kezdetektől kézen fogva jár együtt.

There are those who have been inspired to creativity through a good wine, and those for whom it is important as a way of strengthening creative ties of friendship. What part does it play in your life as an artist?

For years wine consumption has given us a reason to organise a get-together. This milieu, this atmosphere can only be ensured in such a medium, for it brings people together. From the earliest days, wine and grapes have been present in culture: how often have we seen grapes come to life in Roman culture? Wine, too, appears in art, from label design to the creation of the bottle. Since the beginning, wine and art have gone together hand in hand.

Beszéljünk a Siklósi Szalonról! Jelentőségéhez mérten kevesen tudják, hogy a környéken nemcsak a világszínvonalú borászok sűrűsége kiemelkedően magas, de az Ön által kezdeményezett művészeti projekt is számos Kossuth- és Munkácsy díjas alkotót tömörít.

A Siklósi Szalonnak 70 tagja van jelenleg: keramikusok, szobrászok, építészek, festők. Az évek alatt sokat változott a magyar művészeti gondolkodás, a tradíció és az avantgárd egyszerre vannak jelen. Nálunk ez már a kezdetektől fogva így alakult ki, és érezhetően jelen van az európai gondolkodásmód. Alkotóink az ország minden területéről jelen vannak, de akadnak külföldön élő művészek is, akiknek fontos a Villányi borvidék és személyes kötődésük is van hozzá. A szellemi tőkén keresztül szeretnénk ismételten eljuttatni a művészetet közterületekre, parkokba, épületekre.

2004-ben jött létre a Duna-Dráva Cement támogatásával a beremendi szoborpark.

2017-ben az egyetemmel együttműködve szeretnénk egy hasonló beton szoborparkot létrehozni. Mi alkotók, művészek ilyen, és ehhez hasonló projektek megvalósulásához tudunk hozzájárulni.

Let’s talk about the Siklósi Szalon. In measuring its importance, few know that the area not only boasts a high concentration of winemakers, but that due to an art project of your initiative there is also a density of Kossuth and Munkácsy award-winning artists.

At present the Siklósi Szalon has 70 members: ceramists, sculptors, architects and painters. Over the years the thought processes of Hungarian artists have undergone many changes, and both traditional and avant-garde are at once present. From the outset, it could be felt among us that there was present a European way of thinking. Our artists come from every area of the country, but there are also artists who live abroad but for whom the Villány Wine Region is important and who have personal connections with it. We would like to return art to public places, to parks and buildings, through our intellectual capital.

In 2004 we were able to create the Beremend Sculpture Park with the support of the Duna-Dráva Cement Company.

In 2017, in cooperation with Pécs University, we would like to create a similar park of concrete sculptures. This is how we as artists can contribute to the execution of projects of this kind.

At the beginning of April the Bock Cellar invited its regular guests to a special occasion: József Bock, everybody’s Józsi bácsi personally introduced his favourite items from the past twenty-five years. The event was sold out within a couple of days. The evening was further brightened by the fact that Mrs Barbara Nemes and Attila Hadnagy prepared accompaniments for the dozen or so old wines.

Bock József filozófiája az életről merőben egyszerű: Oscar Wilde-hoz hasonlóan mindenből megelégszik a legjobbal. Józsi bácsi csupán azzal egészíti ki az író ars poeticáját, hogy a legjobbhoz mindig a legjobb alapanyagokat kell felhasználni. Úgy lesz szép a bor, ha a megtermelt szőlő hibátlan, és a pincében tökéletes körülmények között biztosítható a fejlődése. Ez a hozzáállás tetten érhető a konyhában is. Az Óbor Étterem stábja tudja, akkor kerülnek a legjobb ízek a tányérra, ha friss, szezonális alapanyagokkal dolgoznak. Így már aztán érthető, miért került ízléses pohárkákba frissen termett csalánból készült capuccino bundás pereccel. A néhány kortynyi meleg vendégváró után tartalmasabb előétel következett, Bock József édes hárslevelűjéből készült borkaviárral és libamájparféval. Izgalmas, vibráló egyensúlyt teremtett a hozzá kínált száraz hárslevelűvel, ám mindez még mindig csak felvezetés volt az este igazi fénypontjaihoz.

József Bock’s philosophy on life is incredibly simple: like Oscar Wilde, he is satisfied with the very best of everything. Uncle Józsi merely extends the writer’s arspoetica by stating that in order to produce the best, one must have the best basic ingredients.You’ll get good wine if the grapes are faultless and their development is guaranteed by perfect conditions in the cellar. This attitude can be found in the kitchen as well. The staff of the Óbor (“Old Wine”) Restaurant know that the best flavours reach the plate when they work with fresh, in season basic ingredients. And so it’s understandable why the tasteful little glasses have in them cappuccino made from freshly grown nettles with breaded pretzel slices. After a few warm preprandial sips, a more substantial starter followed in the form of a wine caviar made from József Bock’s sweet hárslevelű and goose-liver parfait, producing a vibrant balance with the dry hárslevelű which accompanied it; yet this was but a lead-in to high points of the evening.

A rákkal és lazaccal töltött, homármártásba merített tintahal mellé már egy tizenegy éves Bock portugiesert lehetett kortyolni. A komplett Villányi borvidék fájdalma, hogy e fajtát elkönyvelték a magyar beaujolais-nek, így a borok Szent Márton ünnepét követően villámgyorsan elfogynak. Kár érte, mert a tízéves portugieserek nagyhírű nemzetközi borvidékek legjobb tételeit megszégyenítő komplexitással, érettséggel bírnak. Legalábbis akkor, ha a Jammertál-dűlőhöz hasonlóan jó adottságú terroirról származnak. Bock József 2006-os portugiesere ilyen, selymes tanninú, málnás jegyeket felmutató óriási bor.

A Charolais marhaszegyből készült paprikást 1993-ból származó cabernet franc kísérte. A 24 éves bor elképesztően jó állapotban volt. A kor divatjával szembemenve nem barrique hordóban érlelődött. Józsi bácsi akkor jött rá, hogy akár évtizedeken keresztül is jól érlelhető ez a fajta, amikor 1992-ben egy villányi pince elrejtett zugában 60-70 palack 1896-ból származó borra bukkant, köztük számos csodálatos állapotban levő cabernet franc-ra. Úgy gondolta, hogy ha közel száz évet kibírtak a borok, akkor ő is eltesz néhány nagy évjárat szép franc-jából pár tucat palackot.

Alongside the squid stuffed with crab and salmon in a lobster sauce one could sip an eleven-year-old Bock portugieser. It is to the pain of the entire Villány wine region that this has been relegated as the Hungarian Beaujolais, and so the wine is consumed at lightning speed following the St. Martin’s Day celebrations. It’s a shame, because the ten-year-old portugiesers can put the best products of international wine regions to shame with their complexity and matureness. At least, they certainly can if they originate from such beneficial conditions as the slopes of the Jammertal. József Bock’s portugieser is such a one; a giant among wines with its silky tannins and hint of raspberries.

The paprika stew made from brisket of Charolais beef was accompanied by a 1993 cabernet franc. This twentyfour year-old wine was in amazingly good condition.

Going against the fashion of the period, it was not matured in a barrique barrel. It was in 1992 that Józsi bácsi came across 60-70 bottles of 1896 wine hidden in a Villány cellar, among them a number of cabernet francs in wonderful condition, and realised that this variety of wine was capable of maturing well over many decades.

He considered that if this wine could survive nigh on a century, then he too would store a few dozen bottles of his loveliest franc from the great years.

A dámszarvas mellé három Bock Cuvée került a poharakba (1997, 1999 és 2000, utóbbi magnum palackból).

A borok megosztották a társaságot: a többség a 2000-es évjáratút preferálta, ám Józsi bácsi ragaszkodott ahhoz, hogy az általa hitvallás jelleggel elkészített házasításból az 1999-esnek szebbek a savai. Ugyanezzel a lendülettel védte meg a következő csörtében szereplő borát, a 2000-es Capellát. Az fia, Valér 2000-es Librájával mérkőzött meg, s bár a Libra egyes évjáratai több nemzetközi sikert hoztak a pincének, mint a Capella, az este élőbbnek bizonyult a Capella – legalábbis Józsi bácsi szerint.

A csokis desszertet már a 2006-os és a 2007-es csúcs merlot, a Magnifico kísérte, a borok szépen kiegészítették a feketeribizlizselés desszertet. Utóbbi természetesen tökéletesen felesleges volt, a tíz és tizenegy éves borok önmagukban is szép lezárásai lettek volna az estének. Józsi bácsi persze végigadomázta az estét, a sztorik némelyikéről azonban illendőbb hallgatni. A kóstolt borok hűen tükrözték hitvallását, miszerint a világ legnagyobb borvidékeit az különbözteti meg az átlagostól, hogy hosszú palackérlelésű borokat tudnak készíteni. Villány mindenképpen a világ csúcstermőhelyei közé számlálható.

After the entremet, a sorbet made from Marcell champagne had been served, came the “heavy course”. Alongside the fallow-deer venison three Bock cuvees found their way into the glasses (from 1997, 1999, and 2000, this last from a magnum bottle). Opinion was divided on these: the majority preferred the 2000 wine, but Józsi bácsi insisted that of the blends the 1999 had the pleasanter acids.

He defended the 2000 Capella just as energetically in the next duel.

This time the other wine was his son Valér’s 2000 Libra, and although different Libra years had brought more international success to the Cellar than had the Capella, on the night the Capella proved more vibrant – at least according to Józsi bácsi.

The chocolate dessert was accompanied by the premium 2006 and 2007 Magnifico merlots, the wines nicely complementing the blackcurrant and jelly dessert. This last was naturally perfectly superfluous – the ten- and eleven-year-old wines would in themselves have been a beautiful close to the evening. Of course Józsi bácsi filled the evening with anecdotes… although it’s best if refrain from retelling some of his stories. The wines that were tasted were a true reflection of his belief that the world’s greatest wine regions differ from the average in that they are capable of producing wines with a long bottle maturation lifespan. Villány can certainly count itself among the best wine-making regions in the world.

Bockstage - Hangulatjelentés a Bock&Roll&Friends Partyról Bockstage - A Report on the Atmosphere at the Bock&Roll&Friends Party Minden tavasszal sor kerül a Bock Pince egyik legpörgősebb rendezvényére. Ez idén sem történt másképpen, csupán azzal a csavarral, hogy pár Bock-barát is meghívót kapott az eseményre. A tavalyi alkalomhoz hasonlóan a cél az volt, hogy ismételten baráti légkör övezze az egész estét a finom ételek és a Bock borok -fókuszban továbbra is a Bock&Roll- mellett.

Ezúttal az harapnivalóról többek között a Fellow’s Sandwich and Burger gondoskodott, akik prémium minőségű burgerekkel szolgálták ki egész este a nagyérdeműt, ha az éhség csillapításáról volt szó. A kínálatból természetesen nem maradhatott ki a Bock&Roll burger, amiben a friss zöldségek domináltak a marhahúspogácsa mellett.

Az édesszájú vendégek a Vitéz Kürtős kihelyezett standjánál válogathattak az igazi erdélyi kürtőskalácsokból. A klasszikus ízek mellett egyegy különlegesség is kínálásra került, mint például a málnás vagy a chilis-fahéjas kalácsok.

Every spring sees one of the Bock Cellar’s wildest events. It wasn’t any different this year, the only twist being that a couple of Bock-buddies were also invited. Just like last year, the aim was envelop the entire evening of fine wines and food in a friendly atmosphere – the focus as ever being on Bock&Roll. So this time, among others, the peckish esteemed public were catered for throughout the evening by Fellow’s Sandwich and Burger’s premium burgers.

Naturally these had to include the Bock&Roll burger, in which fresh greenstuff dominates alongside the beef itself.

Those with a sweet tooth could choose from among the chimney cakes at the Vitéz Kürtős stand. Besides the classic flavours there were one or two specialties, such as raspberry or chilli-and-cinnamon.

Az Áts Pincészet már évek óta jó barátságot ápol a családdal, így nem is volt kérdés, ha barátokról van szó, mindenképpen a Bock&Roll&Friends Partyn a helyük. Öt kiváló fehérborral látogattak el Villányba és kínálták kóstolásra őket: Áts Koranyár, a 2015-ös évjáratból az Áts Furmint, Áts Szent Tamás Furmint és Áts Cuvée- és persze a Tokaji borvidék esetében kihagyhatatlan Áts Tokaji Aszú 2013-ból.

Az igényes Rock&Roll zene ismét nem maradt el. A Mongooz and the Magnet pécsi zenekar minőségi ritmusokkal melegítette be a közönséget és a Bock színpadot. A dob, a gitár és a nagybőgő triumvirátusa remek hangulatot varázsolt a Zaporozsec koncertje előtt. Az négy tagú Zaporozsec repertoárjából nem maradhattak ki saját rádióslágerei és a legnagyobb rock klasszikusok sem.

Egy igazi Bock&RollPartyval indult útjára a nyár a Bock Pincénél. A remek hangulatból fotókon keresztül adunk egy kis ízelítőt.

For years the Áts Winery have been good friends with the Bock family. This being the case, it was natural that they should attend the Bock&Roll&Friends Party. On their visit to Villány they brought excellent white wines for tasting: their Áts Koranyár, Áts Furmint, Áts Szent Tamás Furmint, Áts Cuvée from 2015 and inevitably as they had come from the Tokaj wine region, their Áts Tokaji Aszú from 2013.

As ever, we couldn’t leave out the good music. The public and the stage were warmed up by the quality rhythms of the Pécs band, Mongooz and the Magnet. The triumvirate of drums, guitar and bass magicked up a great atmosphere before the Zaporozsec concert. The repertoire of the fourpiece Zaporozsec included their own radio hits and the great classics of rock.

And so the Bock Cellar kicked off the summer with a real Bock&Roll Party. Here are some photos to provide a glimpse of how everyone enjoyed the great atmotphere.

Barátunk a sport (is) Sport is (also) our Friend A Bock Pince nemcsak a kultúra, de a sport elkötelezett támogatója is. Így a borversenyek mellett számos egyéb megmérettetés eredményeinek is részesei lehetünk kicsit, amire szintén nagyon büszkék vagyunk.

VITORLÁZÁS A Balatonon szervezett StapleCare Orvos Kupán és SurgiCare Nagydíjon nem csak szponzorként voltunk jelen. A Bock csapata is rajthoz állt az Aeroplane fedélzetén!

FUTÁS Bock József a Nemzeti Bor Maraton borszakmai védnöki szerepét is elvállalta az elmúlt években. A tavalyi Nemzeti Bor Maraton egyik kiemelt állomása Villány volt, amin természetesen Bock csapatot is indítottunk, a verseny előzetes kisfilmjének egyik helyszíne pedig maga a Körpince volt Szőke András főszereplésével.

Bock Cellar is a dedicated supporter not only of culture but also of sport. And so alongside the wine competitions we have been able to play a small part in the results of various challenges, of which we are also proud.

SAILING At the StapleCare Doctor Cup and the SurgiCare Grand Prix we not only appeared as sponsor. The Bock team was on board of the Aeroplane!

RUNNING Over the past years József Bock has taken on the role of professional patron of the National Wine Marathon. One of the highlighted stages was Villány, for which naturally we made up a Bock team, while one of the scenes in the short film made before the event itself was the Circular Cellar, starring András Szőke.

GYORSASÁGI MOTORVERSENYZÉS A sok fiatal tehetség gondozását is felvállaló magyar H-Moto Team a Bock Pince támogatásával a hazai és a nemzetközi bajnokságokban is képviselteti magát.

LABDARÚGÁS A Borász Válogatott 2000-ben alakult és állt ki először a Borbarát Magazin munkatársai ellen. A mérkőzésen a válogatott borászok olyan�nyira összekovácsolódtak, hogy hagyomány született a sportos kikapcsolódásból és borvidékek között is rendszeres lett a megmérettetés. A VörösBorÁszok csapatkapitánya Bock József.

JÉGKORONG A jégkorong már Magyarországon is egyre nagyobb népszerűségnek örvend, a magyar jégkorong válogatott nemrégiben elért nemzetközi sikerei okán. A hazai élmezőny egyik kiemelkedő csapatát, az Alba Volánt mi is támogatjuk.

MOTORBIKE SPEED TRIAL With the support of the Bock Pince the Hungarian H-Moto Team is able to represent itself and the many youngsters in its care in both domestic and international championships.

FOOTBALL The Winemaker Team was formed in 2000, its first match being played against the staff of the Borbarát (Friends of Wine) Magazin.

In the course of the match the selected winemakers bonded so well that an inter-wine region championship was born out of this active relaxation. József Bock captains the VörösBorÁszok (RedWineAces) team.

ICE HOCKEY Ice hockey is becoming increasingly popular in Hungary, owing to the recent international successes of the national team. We support one of the country’s top teams Alba Volán.
