Profile

Bobotis+Bobotis Architects is a private architectural practice, based in Athens, founded by Theofanis Bobotis and Lukas Bobotis, with a portfolio spanning both the public and private sectors, in Greece and abroad, ranging from residential to commercial to cultural projects. We provide design and supervision services, with notable projects including the interior renovation of Athens International Airport , designing and working on the new terminal for Thessaloniki Airport , two completed archaeological museums in Patras and Crete and freight centres in Greece and Italy. In addition to airports, museums and commercial spaces, we also work on residential projects, office buildings, banks, sports facilities, shopping centres, retail chains, convention centres, urban planning, yacht design and more. We have won and been short-listed for a range of national and international architectural design competitions.

Status Under Construction

The project consists of three residential towers and one office tower. Two of the residential towers are 15 storeys high and the third one is 19 storeys high reaching a height of approx 80 meters.

Our office submitted a full Architectural set of drawings reaching the “Shop/Construction Drawings” stage and the project is currently under construction, to be finished within the year 2020 ​

B+B Architects were invited to design the control tower for the new port of Doha. The design is inspired by the “thawb”, the garment typically worn in Arab countries.

Status Pending Design of the mansion with a grand “solid” & minimal façade towards the main road, so that it portrays the privacy and security of the residents.

For this purpose, we designed two massive “walls” from different color stone with essentially only one opening, a large entrance-gate. In front of the walls, we propose a moat, and the course towards the entrance of the mansion via bridge. This gives us a “fortress” sensation.

To ensure privacy of the residents, all the interior activities evolves at the side where we have the view.

The bedrooms have been placed in such a way so that apart from the possibility of isolating them from the rest of the mansion, they won’t be affected by any swimming pool or outdoor kitchen sounds as well as from the rest of the indoor spaces (living room, main entrance, dining area, TV room etc).

Status Completed B+B Architects were assigned to design a bar/ restaurant in the centre of Athens. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, a bar that can serve both to the exterior and the interior as well as an open bakery and open kitchen. Custom wine cellars were designed on the side of the staircase in order to accomodate a long wine list.

Status Completed B+B Architects designed this wine bar, which offers the possibility for someone to taste and buy wine by the glass. On the upper level, a walk in wine celar was designed to accomodate the bar’s needs. The back of the main bar transforms from day to night, by rotating a backlit set of custom shelves that reveal the alcohol bottles, which are not visible during the day. Cold cuts and deserts are available at the central station.

Due to the dense presence of adjacent buildings, the idea behind the design is to create a vertical see-through courtyard on the facades instead than on a plan level. B+B Architects won the competition for the extension of the International Airport of Athens. The project included a walking bridge connecting the Main Terminal building with the existing Satellite Terminal Building.

The extension building would house a new location for the security screening, retail area, F&B area as well as a new area to accomodate the business lounges.

The expansion of the Intra Schengen area of the airport of Athens, consisted of the relocation of security areas, retail and food and beverage areas, as well as the aesthetic upgrade of the airport. Lighting and benches were also designed by our studio to meet the concept standards. The project covers an area of 6.950m²

Bobotis+Bobotis Architects won the 1st prize at the competition to design the New Archaeological Museum of Chania in Crete.

Our proposal submitted at the international architectural competition regarding the new Archaeological Museum of Cyprus. The concept is inspired by seven (7) cultural Periods each represented by a “line”. Each line gets evolved into 7 zones, that further evolve into 7 distinctive volumes, enveloped in an earthy coloured skin. Total building area: Approx.

26.000m² for the main facilities 10.000m² of Basement Areas.

Our office was awarded the 1st prize for the architectural competition launched by the Ministry of culture. Our office was awarded the 1st prize for this competition regarding a Multifunctional Museum Facility to restore, store and distribute artwork from the Saint Petersburg area.

Our office was awarded the 2nd prize for the architectural competition regarding the new Archaeological Museum of Vergina, Greece. Rusted metal was chosen as the envelope material, to make the building blend in with the surrounding landscape.

This building was designed in 2006 to store and preserve hard copies of various historical documents. At the same time, it offers research possibilities for the public. It houses in the underground levels various laboratories for disinfection of incoming paper documents as well as restoration and preservation labs. Openings on the facade are very limited in order to protect the archives from UV radiation.
