GOVeRNOR Gavin Newsom has announced that two Federal pilot vaccination sites in california, namely; the california state University in Los angeles and Oakland-alameda coliseum in Oakland are going to start operation on February 16. These pilot sites are part of the wider effort to establish 100 vaccination sites nationwide in the federal administration’s first 100 days, according to a Sacramento press release. The sites will be co-run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the State of California through the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES). “These new sites will help us get available supply to some
of the California communities most in need. I thank the Biden Administration for standing with us as we continue our efforts to safely, swiftly and equitably vaccinate all Californians,” Newsom said. Newsom said the goal is distribute a minimum of 6,000 doses a day and scale them up from there. “Both of these sites are perfect examples of how FEMA is working around the clock to support state led, federally CAL STATE

LP considering fielding Robredo as 2022 presidential bet MANILA (Mabuhay) — The Liberal Party (LP) is considering fielding Vice President Leni Robredo as its presidential candidate for the 2022 polls even if the latter is yet to decide if she will pursue such a bid, LP president and Senator Kiko Pangilinan said Thursday. “Siyempre, siya ang pinakamataas na opisyal ng partido and the highest ranked elected official among us [in LP ranks] so she is also being considered,” Pangilinan told reporters in a virtual press conference when asked if the Vice President is being considered to be LP’s standard bearer for the 2022 polls. fter four years of brutish immigration restrictions, advocates are breathing a sigh of relief and seeing a clear opening to push through ambitious reforms under the new Biden administration and a pro-immigration movement US President Joe Biden in Congress. “We have just been through four years of cruelty and chaos brought to you by the Trump Administration; they weaponized an already miserable and dysfunctional immigration system,” said Frank Sharry, founder and executive director of America’s Voice, which advocates for progressive immigration reform, speaking at a Jan. 29 briefing hosted by Ethnic Media Services. “I think that the tectonic plates underlying the debate have shifted,” he said, noting that former president Donald Trump’s demonization of immigrants has backfired with the majority of Americans. A top Biden advisor on reform, Marielena Hincapié, executive director of the National Immigration Law Center, said: “After four years of war on immigrant families, we really do believe this is the beginning of a new era ADVOCATES
