“LA OPTIMIZED” TO STRENGTHEN LOCAL SMALL BUSINESSES
ON November 16, the pharmaceutical company Moderna announced that the vaccine to fight off the coronavirus that it has been working on has shown to be about 95% effective. And days later, on November 20, pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and BioNtech announced that they are going to seek emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for another vaccine to prevent COVID-19.

ayor Eric Garcetti has launched LA Optimized, an initiative to help local small businesses recover from the pandemic by expanding their e-commerce capabilities and growing their online presence. The project will be overseen by the Mayor’s newly appointed 2021 Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR), Roberto Martinez. “COVID-19 has changed everything — the way we communicate, work, socialize, and shop — and our brick-and-mortar stores need to rapidly rethink how they reach their customers, market their goods, sell their products, and thrive when so much business is happening online,” said Mayor Garcetti. “Our small businesses are the backbone of our economic strength, and LA Optimized taps into the power of partnerships to equip local enterprises with a larger “LA OPTIMIZED”

New rule takes effect: restricts resto to delivery and take out By ABNER GALINO
Alarmed by the high rate of coronavirus tests coming back positive, which now stands at 6.6% or almost double the number of what it was in late October, a new rule has been put in place again by health authorities in the Los Angeles County.
The new rule took effect at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and will remain in place for at least three weeks. It restricts restaurants — along with breweries, wineries and bars — to takeout, drive thru and delivery only for the first time since May. Wineries and breweries can continue retail operations.
“It is a tragedy that we have come to this point. I am keenly aware that suspending outdoor dining will have a detrimental impact on our small businesses," said Supervisor Hilda L. Solis. "But I’ve said time and time again that I will listen to our public health experts – and their recommendation is clear. None
of us want to see this closure, but it is necessary to protect our collective well-being.” Newly-elected Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas agreed with Solis’ opinion. "These are not decisions that we have made lightly. We are acutely aware of the compromises all Angelenos have been NEW RULE
