WHO WE ARE While at college in Hawaii, Robert Stehlik founded Blue Planet in 1993 with the intention of providing Hawaii inspired surf equipment and apparel to the local surf population. Rob’s grass-roots operation began to evolve as a result of success at local swap meets and vendor events before securing his first major international deal with a Japanese retailer. In 2017, Rob and the BP team continue the 24-yearold tradition of providing Hawaii inspired SUP/surf equipment to the entire state of Hawaii, as well as expanding into international distribution with key distributors in Australia, mainland USA, Canada, Fiji, Europe and Japan. The name, Blue Planet, was derived from the aweinspiring view from an airplane window while cruising at 36,000 feet on a return flight back to the islands. With more than two-thirds of the earth’s surface covered by water, Rob concluded that we live on a Blue Planet. It is only fitting that the same twothirds of the earth that inspired him so many years ago, continues to inspire him today as he expands the Blue Planet brand across the vast reaches of our oceans, rivers, lakes and waterways.
